I have had a Koga Myata Tesla for the last 6 years and it has been a fantastic bike. I had used it regularly until about 6 months ago when for practical reasons I wasn't able to use it at all. I didn't leave it on the charger so the battery must have fully discharged. When I came to use it again and recharged it I got an error message on the bike's control unit (E00012). This error message is a bit difficult to interpret from the manual and having followed it up with Koga they say it may be the motor but they are not sure. The only way to test it is to disconnect the cable between the battery and the motor and put it next to another identical bike and see if my battery works the other bike's motor and whether the other bike's battery works my motor. Unfortunately I live in the Highlands of Scotland and the Koga dealer where I bought the bike in Glasgow no longer does Kogas and the only other Koga dealer in Scotland is in Edinburgh - I've spoken to them (Edinburgh Bicycle Company) and they were very helpful but they've only just started doing Kogas and don't know very much about them and they don't have any bikes like mine to do this test. There are no other Koga dealers in Scotland. Koga have said that the only way to test this is for me to send them my back wheel with the motor to them in Holland which I'm ultimately prepared to do but its a very big step to take when my gut reaction is that the probable problem is that the battery is knackered and it's not the motor that's at fault. It just seems to me that 6 years is a long time for a battery especially as I didn't charge it for 6 months and the motor was working perfectly beforehand.
Is there anyone on this forum who has a similar bike (the Sparta Ion uses an identical battery and motor system) and who has had a similar error message and can advise me here. Or is there anyone who knows their electric bike stuff and can suggest what the most likely problem is??
