Always feels like Christmas morning when a delivery turns up, which seems to be every day at the moment! But today we here at the London Electric Bike shop received the new KTM Macina Sport 400.
First impressions, the bike looks very sophisticated with its graphite grey and black finish with flashes of red here and there. I love the new look Bosch system, battery casing is futuristic, shame it doesn't light up somehow like something from a Tron movie as it looks like it should.
The crank motor is compact and sits centrally in the frame rather than hanging. This model is complete with very modern looking lights front and rear. This bike still sees the Bosch Intuvia LCD model we saw on the 2013 range as the choice for displaying all the information for the rider. The front suspension is a nice bonus as having used the Macina Bold for a few trips to and from the shop to home I’ve found it a little too hard to ride in the gutter at times. Battery Charged quickly from a 1/5 full to full in under 2 hours.
Riding the KTM Macina Sport 400 is as you would expect smooth and the new Bosch system makes no noise or whine, it is busy on the road here at Hampton Wick but the bike is very quiet. Deraillur gears are good on this set up and behave as they should.
Out of the box the bike is easy and quick to set up, one thing that bugs me with KTM ebikes is they never supply a UK plug or Bosch manual in English, not the distributors fault but it’s such a silly thing to omit. I have a link to the manual and have bought leads so all's not lost.
At £2049.00 this bike is a great all round crank drive ebike, it looks neater with the new Bosch system incorporated compared to the 2013 range from KTM and is great to ride on the roads, comfortable and refined. Available now at the London Electric Bike Store!
