We have just unloaded the first container of the long awaited Kudos Ibex crank drive bike. The first models are our export bike marked `Eiger`, however the specification is identical to Ibex.
The bike is everything we hoped for - smooth & torquey especially on steep hills in the lower gears. The hydraulic disc brakes have effortless stopping power.
An ideal bike if much of your riding is in an area which involves steep hills.

Jim,we don't force these bikes onto our dealers,it's up to them to place orders upon us. The placing of orders is often as a result of customer interest in a particular bike.
I know that you like your Tourer and there is a lot to be said for 'love the one you are with'.
I have had a chance yesterday to have a good ride on both the Arriba and Ibex bikes and make comparisons between them,they have very distinctive usage.
The Arriba(and the Tornado) have hub drive BPM motors,these motors are very powerful and give plenty of torque provided your can manage above 4 mph up hills,ideally above 6 mph...this moves the speed of the motor into its optimum speed for maximum torque-the 8 fun motor in your Tourer really needs 8 mph to offer maximum torque. Its this ability to move the maximum torque lower in the speed range which is the biggest improvement in hub drive,note the BH Neos and the latest Panasonic hub drive (KTM Ebike P) are also offering low speed torque-it gives the impression that the motors are very powerful,in reality they are all 250 watt,its just the lower speed that the torque is delivered at.
The Ibex,being crank drive,will offer maximum torque as low as 2 mph but it does require judicious use of the bikes gearing to reveal that torque-some testers of Bosch and Impulse powered bikes described these as gutless at our roadshows-that was incorrect its just they are used to being lazy changing gear,usually as a result of already owning hub drives. The Ibex is the same,it needs good use of the gears to correctly use the crank motor watts plus leg power available,you tend to ride this bike in lower gears than the Arriba-the Ibex is ideal for someone with tired legs or someone who lives in a very hilly area and accepts riding up those hills slowly with high cadence,however the ride is very quiet and smooth.
In some respects its ideal to clearly differentiate the rider profile and usage between the BPM equipped Arriba and the TCM crank drive Ibex,there is a place for both bikes. Coming downhill I do like the hydraulic brakes-I am no flier downhill and the higher velocity ratio of the hydraulics does take away some of the finger strain on the levers.

I have had a few members asking what is the peak power of the Ibex motor....the King display gives the peak power at 670 watts....this is motor power, obviously the rider power must be added to that figure.
The bike is a speed sensor so the peak power is independent of rider input power.

That's power from the battery (volts x amps). Output power would be about half that - still not bad though.
