My titanium and carbon fibre road bike was only £800. Add a Q100cst and a Luna Mighty Mini battery and change the handlebars to straight ones to get a 12 kg hybrid ebike with decent gears, double the range and probably double the power for £1500.

I guess if you can't do that, you're stuck with having to pay €3500 for a bike, that'll struggle to get up the first big hill before the battery runs out. That's if you can get up it at all without gears.

I know a lot of guys in cities like Munich use fixies, but they need a bit more help to get them up the occasional hill without gears. That is what that bike's designed for, not for country rides or hilly commuting.

This is exactly what I had in mind after your similar advice on my titanium and carbon road build.

Out of interest would you use a 36v q100 ? Or 48v

And what controller ?

201 rpm 36v motor at 52v with that Luna battery. Should give good power at 23 mph, ramping down to about 26 mph - perfect for such a bike. Nobody would know it's electric, so no need to worry about the speed limit.
