So I go for a ride on my bafang 500w rear hub powered bike after it being layed up for a while due to work. Lovely warm sunny evening going down country lanes and then decide to go across a field. At the end of the field I thought I had a puncture, so I stopped and checked. It turned out my spokes where practically falling out!
Cue the next hour and a half going a few hundred yards, stopping and hand tightening all the spokes.
So the moral of this story is always check and tightnen your spokes! Oh and take a spoke key with you if you have these wheels.

Anyone else had this pleasure when miles from home?

Our Chinese friends don't seem to be very good at tightening spokes - probably because they're on piece-work. When you get your new Chinese bike or motor-wheel, it's a good idea to check and properly tension the spokes. Once tensioned, they rarely give problems again, but you should still check them from time to time.
