Not a new idea of course, Israel had a similar scheme for cars made and designed especially for it by Renault. For those the battery swap was automated to make it as rapid as any liquid fuel stop. The company first promoting it failed, but a new company with a rapid charge system instead has since continued in the new form.

If these scooters use lithium batteries, their relatively low weight should mean a good range can easily be provided, particularly since they are intended for city use rather than open road transport.

Won't intra city scooter riders be the least range anxious e vehicle user ?

If it'sswappable then it's chargeable at work or home easily too

And speeds are not for city use

Not sure all the thinking is joined up here

I'm not aware of a great scooter pollution crisis requiring relocating emissions towards power station sites, or scooter affordability crisis. I'm just not aware of a need for this solution at all. Heaven knows who funded it but they're going to get almightily frowned upon by whoever they're accountable to, when all this expenditure results in business failure. $150m?
