New battery for Freego folder

I have a Freego folding bike purchased in 2011 and the battery is completely dead http://freegoelectricbikes.com/electric-bikes/freego-folder/

Freego have quoted me £499 for a replacement 10ah battery. Apparently the battery design has changed since 2011 so they've also quoted £15 for a new base plate and back rail.

I know that batteries comprise a large portion of the overall cost of ebikes but even so £499 for a 10ah battery seems a bit steep to me. Is there anywhere I could get a cheaper third party replacement?

You can use just about any 36v ebike battery you like, wherever and however you want to have it. There's two wires that join to your present battery in that compartment underneath it. all you need to do is connect the wires from your new battery there.

You can get your present battery from a number of sources much cheape than £500. The case is a standard aluminium extrusion, so, if you want to have the same arrangement for the new one, you just need one the same shape. they normally come with the base plate adapter that has the two wires on it, and they have the aluminium strip with the hole for the lock-bolt in case it's a different length. here's some typical Chinese ones from Aliexpress. Some of them are tax paid, otherwise you have to pay about £20 duty:

Thanks I'll take a look at the links. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the old battery has been disposed of, didn't think I'd ever need it again, so will need to buy new rather than re cell.
