I bought it off Ebay, it's a "mini" spotlamp meant for a 4X4, I think it's supposed to go on a roll bar, I've also bought a voltage converter used in golf cars to bring the voltage down to 12v. The lamp came with a 55 watt H3 bulb, but I've found a 20 watt replacement from a Lambretta tuning company.
On my way to work there is a very dark road with pot holes, puddles (ice), rabbits, etc. hence the need, I can now also use cycle paths after dark, much safer than busy roads after dark!

that looks like a really decent headlamp. does it clip off easily?

Where did you find the voltage converter?

I'm very much converted to using light emitting diodes , in fact I have a lots and lots of red lights already mounted on some reflective plate which were for the back of Cadillacs in America, strong lumileds, I have lots extra, and I'm looking for some good white leds for the front. anyone want to swap?

Hi Giguana
it is very securely bolted on and wired in, I found the voltage converter on Ebay as well, it can convert 36 or 48 volts to 12 volts. I was using an LED headlight previously but found it lacked penetration, I still use it for road use where there's street lighting however.

Cheers for that, I have the same kind of headlamp on my bike but just in much smaller-5 W/36v...there are a couple of shops in the UK online with 5 W/36 v lightbulbs, I like the variety of powerful led's available and the durability, I definitely prefer the star and piranha types to the mass produced ones.
