Hi All,

I am looking for an ebike under £2500 and haven't a clue what to look for. Here are some details about myself and what i'll be using it for.

Commute - 10 miles each way with steep hills on roads
Frame - crossbar
Weight - 85kg
Height - 6ft1
Position - upright as I suffer with low back pain and usually have the seat and handles bars level with each other

I would like something that can fit a pannier rack as i'll be carrying a laptop and work clothes. I also will need to fit mud gruards.

I have the Woosh Gran Camino on order with the hopes of August delivery. I've been recommended a Ribble AL e (not sure how this would do on hills) or a Canyon (just outside my price range). I've also looked at the Vanmoof S3, WAU X, Boardman HYB 8.9e and Raleigh Motus.

Could anyone recommend any bikes suitable for my needs?

James

Tbh looks like you are sorted albeit waiting on the Camino delivery date. The Camino at half the price of your top end figure will do everything that a 2.5k bike will do .
The one thing you will get is very good or should I say great help and CS from Woosh.
Another brand to look at if the wait is too long is Wisper with the new Wayfarer models.
A couple of considerations to think about for comfort is to add a Suntour parallelogram suspension seat post and swept bars to aid wrist, shoulder & upper back posture.
A few are using the Motus on the forum so they can might give feed back on it's merits.

I agree with everything Nealh says above.

We have an older Motus, step through with hub gears. We chose it mainly because we wanted those features. Very comfortable; quite heavy. We bought it 2nd hand with not too many miles; if we suddenly needed to replace it I'd probably go for a Woosh.

Motus has basic suspension post; adequate, the Suntour one we have on the tandem is much better.

Motus bars swept back just the right amount for us. Our tandem had almost straight bars, which I replaced with raised, swept back ones. The raise was welcome, but it is too swept back for us (around 45 degrees?). Preferred sweep back angle is quite personal.

I don't like the Magura rim brakes on our particular Motus, a complete pain to adjust. I don't think the current models have them.

eBikes sometimes bigger nuts than standard for a non-eBike, so I do carry a suitable lightweight spanner (71g) for my rear wheel.

A small magnet with double sided tape in case the ones on the brake lever sensor arrangement fall off (7g)

But since my ebike can be cycled without the motor\battery running its not absolutly essential for me to fix the eBike specific stuff.

Any riding tips?
On the roads avoid in this order; Busses, Taxis, Lorries, eScooters, all other road vehicles.

And do remember that the modern day pedestrian does expect you to avoid them, they are far too busy looking at thier phones.

On paths that are for mixed pedestrian and cycle use also remember pedestrians will not be expecting cycles to be about.
