One immediate impression David, is that the blue lettering on blue background doesn't work as it lacks contrast, the colours too close. Otherwise I'm happy with the site pages.

On the content, I'd like to see more technical information in the specification or accessed separately, things like the gear ratios or at least the sprockets and chainwheel numbers of teeth specified for the ratios to be worked out by the many who can do that.

Wisper website

Is the 'action shot' on the title page of the website (handlebar shot, zooming along a road) actually a Wisper bike? It looks like it has 3 cables running along the top of the frame.... you don;t actually make on like this, do you?

The site says 10a for the 905, but when you download the pdf's it says 8a and 14a, so not too clear. Also, I assume they all mean Ah.

Honestly?

Guy's,

Your website is the first point of contact for many people, It's your shop window into which the whole world may wish to peep.

The Wisper 905 SE is an incredible machine, but you are not doing it justice with your rather pedestrian website.

Uninspiring, unimaginative and PDF files really are local government stuff!. I think you need to start over with a blank canvas. Use some flash animation, stirring music and above all, some decent photographs.

Love the bike
Hate the website

Constructive regards

Bob

Some thoughts

Some observations

1) The product bar is fairly sensitive so sloppy mouse movements across the range mean that you have to go back and move more precisely to get the buttons up again. A number of people will come to your site to find details of the 905. If they miss the link on your opening page it is a bit difficult to get to it.

2) The font size is too small and should be at least one higher. (There may be some disability regs about readability for poor eyesight that you may have to follow. Not many seem to, but you may want to ask around about them.

3) The site is very much "This is our flag ship .... or "The bikes have a step through frame..." It may be advantageous to give the site a more friendly "You" appeal e.g. "You will find this bike suitable for....."to balance out the factual statements.

4) You have some great bikes well acknowledged by people on the forum. You could collect some quotes or say something about how other customers have found the bikes. Others peoples experience are often very powerful in attracting future users.

5) You could have some links to other sites e.g. the forum

6) Customer service is a strength you have. You could make this sound more assuring regarding aftersales e.g. "We are only a phone call away or Just email and we will be back within ....."

7) I agree with others that technical details are needed. You may also like to give more info about why thiis is the best bike on the market (I am very biased now I have one)

8) You stress the British design bit on your home page. It is a definite feature, although you could perhaps clear up where the bikes are manufactured. You could have another page about the Wisper story so far....

9) I found some problems navigating backwards and forwards - graphics at the top kept disappearing

Hi Jon and all

Thanks for your input.

The site is being completely rebuilt as we speak and should be ready in a month, hopefully all your points will have been answered.

I have emptied my mail box, so you should not have any more problems contacting me.

All the best David

Thanks John. I think it was ElephantsGerald now I think it through.

Hi David,

Actually I don't design web sites, but I know some people who do (unfortunately they're not based in your part of the world though).

What I do is make web sites work (I'm a software developer), so once someone has designed the graphics, I come along and wire up the navigation, then write and hook up the underlying software that drives the site (e.g. content management, quotations, catalogues, shopping baskets, payment processing, orders, order processing, invoicing, stock management, accounting, etc., etc.).

Probably not quite what you're looking for, but I'm happy to chat.

I think in the past you were wanting to have more direct control over your web site, and I recommended that you look at some (free) Content Management software called Joomla. I'd still recommend you check this out as its very good.

A Joomla site that I set up as a freebie for my childrens school can be found at The Hereford Waldorf School. The look and feel isn't much to write home about, but you can get an idea of the type of thing Joomla lets you do (e.g. news, blogs, calendar, links, downloads, etc.). The Joomla web site has links that can take you to other sites with more a interesting look; you can pretty much make it look however you like.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Elephants
