Hi all, I'm pretty disapointed at the growth of e-bike mtb's, when I bought mine I thought that I was at the beginning of a new trend in mtb's and we would follow our European cousin's in the exponential growth of e-mtb sports, because that's what it is a NEW sport. However it seems there is a very poor take up of new e-mtb.'ers with only 4/5 regular contributors on this group. I bike round Yorkshire and the Dales and have yet to come across another e-bike. If you have an e-mtb please post to the group and let's get things happening. I have joined a Facebook group called Northern e-bikers If you're up north please check out the page. Izzy

I see 3 regularly around Lady Bower. ( Two chased after me to tell me they had same bike)
Not many at moment but never saw any upto 2 years ago.
It will grow. Bikes are so good its bound to.
I,ll chase them next time and direct them on here.

Certainly no shortage of people on e-mtb's in my area.

I probably see half a dozen regularly during the week, and trips to the South Downs throw up loads more.
It seems that the South Downs area is a bit of a hot-spot for e-mtb could this be down to good marketing by e-bike shop?

Very few electric bikes in my area, seen only a couple this last three years.
It's a dreadful shame there aren't more, It's a wonderful place for cycling of all sorts and for all ages if you could manage the uphill bits. There's also lots of older folk here who simply give up cycling when the hills get too much for them.
Although it's a sparsely populated area I'm sure a centrally based specialist electric bike shop with several makes to try would do well.
The problem in these parts is you have to travel hundreds of miles to try a bike and then may have little or no choice, Halfords are certainly missing a trick.
Lots of folk are interested in my bike fitted with a kit but would want a ready made product. They are completely put off buying blind on the internet or having to devote several days and several hundred miles of travel.
How I wish I was younger, I'd be seriously looking into opening up a shop in Inverness.
Dave.

Now we have an mtb section we should upload pictures of where we get to ( and probably explain how , how shall I put this,old/ fat/ inept/unfit some of us are ) to promote how much help bikes can give, and yet offer so much for good riders.
I suspect the better you are the more benefit you can get from emtb.
Don't think folk outside here actually realise how good emtbs actually are and what a broad spectrum of riders they appeal to.

Seeing more and more pedelecs down south. Just the other day I saw an old boy cycling up a steep hill, thought I'd rush him on mine but he kept up a good pace, only as I caught him at the top did I see he was riding a Kalkhoff!

Brilliant .
I was following a fit bloke up a hill in Derbyshire..djidnt want to go past, it seems rude somehow . Followed all way to top abs we both stopped for a chat He was well out of breath but said " I didn't think anybody could stay with me up there"
Then looked at bike.
" oh ****,,didn't realise..why didn't you come past ?"
Cant win can we.
Was all in good humour.

Are there more ebikes in hilly areas than the flatter parts of the country?

The only reason I had one was the increasing difficulty of the first big hill, from then on it wasn't so bad. For a time.
