Wow i've had an e-bike for nearly 5 years now and only just discovered this forum!

I'm hoping someone can help me out with an issue with my Kudos Sport, this bike has served me well over the years and while I have replaced whees, derailer, saddles and plenty of bottom brackets (it eats them) it has been fine motor wise until the last week. when I turned the ignition on monday I had no display on the handlebar controller, the throttle is working but at the low speed setting as is the wheel sensor with the same result.

If i repeat turning it on and off over the course of 5 mins It will light up and I can use the bike, I figured it was a loose wire but have checked all the connections and it seems fine plus a loose cable you would think would be affected if I moved them about causing it to light up, but no the bike can remain static and it seems totally at random if it works or not.

I can only assume it's either the motor controller (would that not just either work or not) or the handlebar display thats causing issue, would any of you fellow cyclists have any ideas to help?

Two things I can think of:

The key switch is worn out and needs replacing.

The two terminals in the battery are too spread out. If you take the battery off and have a look at them, each one should have a gap between the two sides that's thin enough to grip the flat pins that go in when you slide the battery into place. After some time, they get bent out, so don't grip the pins anymore. You have to dismantle the battery case to get at them and bend them back into shape with thin pliers. Make sure that they don't touch when doing it otherwise you'll see big sparks.

Thanks for the replies, no I have had no need to replace the battery as yet, I still get about 3 days out of it but I usually charge every 2 (7 mile daily commute). I will try the battery connection but it does seem solid and looks like it is making a good connection, I've bought a meter today so will test the output later...

Also just to confirm when I say turn it on and off I mean by pressing the on/off on the handlebar controller.
