OK - Since people are complaining about a lack of new topics on here, here's one I've been mulling over posting for a while.

The National Cycle Network currently consists of 75 routes covering the length and breadth of the country using bridleways, shared-use cycleways and quiet back roads. There's a big PDF map of the whole thing
http://www.sustrans.org.uk/webfiles/general/sustrans_2008_ncn_map.pdf

I live near route number 21 and have quite extensively cycled the 20 mile stretch nearest my house. I've been planning for quite a while to try getting up early one morning, catching a train to Grenwich and following the route all the way from Grenwich to Brighton. It's about 60 miles in total with my house as a convenient recharge point about 20 miles along the way. I reckon I should be able to do that in about 8-10 hours... (which I might split it across a couple of weekends if it turns out I'm fed up after the first 20 miles). I am of course waiting for longer, warmer days before I attempt that. If anyone would like to attempt this feat with me, I would certainly welcome the company.

I think I read somewhere that this forum has over 1500 members now, and they seem to be spread nicely across the country. Wouldn't it be nice if between us all, we were able to make sure that a pedelec travels on every single part of each and every route before the end of 2009.

Does anyone fancy volunteering to take on any of the other routes?
