I`ve been playing around with on bike video today. I used my Panasonic LX3 still and video camera, stuck it on one of these Sima | Mini Video Prop Chest Support | SVP3 | B&H Photo Video
put a bungie around my chest and left the camera sticking out of the top of my cycling jacket. Seems to work OK but I must get to grips with lowering the wind noise.

Q. I`ve started to upload my videos to youtube and I`ve never used the tube before and the 1st video is taking an age to upload so I suppose I should be compressing the files first? Any tips from youtune users please? and then I can share the videos with you all.

Thanks

Dave

The upload is always slow because it's a fraction of the download speed (hence Adsl, ascynchronous). On my Virgin 10Mb conection, upload is only 512Kb, for example. And you probably don't get the theoretical max anyway.

YouTube will do all the conversion for you automatically so there's no need to do it yourself.

Maybe you're shooting at higher resolution - if you set the camera to record at 640x480 VGA, files will be smaller. Less good quality than the available WVGA or HD but easier to deal with all round.

Where the wind noise is concerned, I'd be inclined to tape over the mike - sound is not likely to be any good anyway. If you have Quicktime Pro, you can strip out the audio and do some easy editing too, cutting out the illegal bits where you wheelie down the high street and mow down pedestrians on crossings.

On second thoughts, I shouldn't judge you by my own standards :D
