I have a Powabyke and am generally happy with it.
However , I do find now , after a bit of experience with it , that the inability to have immediate motor assistance for a hill start is disappointing.
Can the crank sensor be disabled so that the machine pulls away without the pedals being rotated?

regards

Hello Tony

To quote Frank Curran from PowaByke

Just to add, all Powabykes can have their sensor over ridden by adding what we call a disabler. This will turn the bike to a twist and go bike meaning you can do away with the bottom bracket sensor.
...contact your local dealer and just ask for a 3.3 disabler and adaptor for your XByke and they can order one for you. SRP is £19.99 plus fitting which is 10 minutes work.
I plan to get a disabler added to my X6 next time I put my bike in for sevicing. I've no problem with hill starts (as long as I remember to stop in a low gear :p ), but it would be nice to be able to pull away more quickly in trafic.

PowaByke X24 sensor

On 23rd June, 2009, Frank Curran from PowaByke did reply to me that all new PowaBykes were now back to one revolution before the motor kicks in.
