The replacement for my stolen powabyke innovator arrived yesterday. Got around to trying it out earlier, only to find the battery showing fully charged expired after approx 500m!

I was not best pleased, but gratified to learn that a new one has been dispatched. The Email back from the supplier today stated that they were wondering where their test battery had got to!!!

Just goes to show that you can just as easily get a problem with a new bike as with an allegedly refurbished model. At least no long-term harm done (save the theft that caused the purchase) - just need to be patient before I can ride the bike!

Replacement new battery arrived within 24hrs so most certainly not complaining! Thanks to Frank from Powabyke again for the efficient service.

Very pleased with the bike so far. The x24 seems much more solid than the x6, but also seems in danger of breaking the speed limit!

I wouldn't worry too much about that John, with just 6ah of capacity they will have to be in the right place at the right time to catch you going too quickly. ;)

The design concept of the Powabyke X series was based on the average bike ride in the UK being considerably less than ten miles. Other machines which fitted into this category are the Cytronex offerings. This machine was slightly different, inasmuch they were designed for those very fit riders who only require assistance on steeper hills.

Inevitably, there will be times when 'fast 'n' light' riders will want to go a little further, and I think this is where the real benefit of the 'ChargePoint' initiative being setup by forum members will be felt....especially considering their relatively small batteries can usually be charged very quickly.

Hopefully, the unseasonal deluge will soon be over, and we can enjoy our machines without getting a soaking.

Happy and safe e-biking.

You'd be surprised.... seriously. But only with the wind behind you of course.

Having had older powabykes, x6 and now x24, I really cannot decide which I prefer. The older bikes were a real workhorse in my opinion, and provided they didn't have any serious mechanical issue, seemed to have the ability to go on forever.

These x series bikes look better, weigh far less & appear much more modern, yet I get the feeling they may not last quite as long. Yes, designed to be lightweight in comparison, but there is something telling me that there may have been an element of cost-cutting in the design also. Just a thought.

Having said that, it was a pleasant enough experience riding it for 5 miles or so this morning. Managed a couple of very steep hills with absolutely no problem at all - and without denting the batteries too much - basically just to test out its capabilities. So overall....so far, so good.
