Re-celling

It occurs to me that there are now quite a lot of batteries out there made up of small cells.
Not only on e-bikes, but other devices.
When it comes to our needs, the cost of a OEM replacement is often high, yet the radio control people seem to handle all these different things easily.
Are then any domestic firms offering re-celling?
These would be particularly useful for bikes where the manufacturer has gone, or those 'in frame' batteries which are an odd shape.

I don't think that anybody would get liability insurance for that. There's nothing to stop anyone sticking their own rc lipos in the case.

Scimitar, d8veh is talking about re-celling with LiPo batteries such as Hobby King ones, I doubt as d8veh said anyone would be doing so commercially due to their needing careful feeding and treatment to prevent a F&S incident :) mind you they do perform superbly.

Ouch, good reason to learn DIY plus the care and feeding of LiPo, Hobby king 36v 10amp 20c around $150 aud plus shipping. Roughly 84 pound.

If your battery is not LiFePo4, you could re-use the BMS, to make your lipos plug-and-play because the cells work at the same voltage as the standard LiMnCo. Re-celling with 18650 cells is also fairly straight-forward, as most batteries are changing over to them. You can buy the cells welded into a suitable configuration. The only skills you need is to be able to solder, operate a voltmeter and work a screwdriver.
