Finding my (electric) wheels

Good afternoon,

I have previously posted on the introduce yourself section. I was having problems with my bike. It is a Byocycle MTF-XL folding bike with 24 inch wheels. I had some very helpful advice about diagnosing what was wrong. Following the advice I checked all the connections and tried to dry out the controller. Unfortunately the small screws on the casing are so badly corroded that I cannot dismantle the controller so I have decided to try and replace. Part of the helpful advice I received was if repair was not possible I should consider upgrading. This is the route that I would like to take especially as I cannot find anywhere that has the same make and model as is currently installed. The present controller is a Lishui model LSW914-18-1M with a King Meter 790 or 791 display. I have done some initial research but as a newbie I am worried about the wiring. Presently there is a connector which has blue red black wires. I can see that it is attached to the sensor on the crank set, the one that senses the disc with the 12 magnets on it. I think of that as the cadence sensor. I have come across some controllers which have blue red black wiring to a connector and wiring diagrams seem to refer to a PAS sensor. Hence I am asking advice again on this new (for me) thread. I am happy to replace both the controller and the display so any suggestions gratefully received. I know the obvious answer is go to the dealer or manufacturer but there are problems. The manufacturer no longer exists and the dealer, Ebike s Direct doesn't want to know. If it helps there were some photographs attached to the previous thread.

The description of the sensor is one and the same PAS sensor/pedal cadence sensor.
Wiring colours aren't critical , what is is the sequence order of wiring . All three wire sesnors have a 5v , Gnd and signal wire so when you get your new controller and display we can help you to easily match the correct wires together.
Typically most wiring uses red or brown for the 5v (possibly blue in the absence of these but rarely) , black for the Gnd but in absence of black it will be yellow. Generally after these colours the signal wire can be any colour .

Lishui are oem and then often they are programmed for the bike and display so simply buying another lishui doesn't mean it will 100% work, it is one reason why KT current control systems are mentioned and are readily available /compatible with other KT displays and controllers.
One will need to buy both controller and display for 100% compatibility, one can't mix & match differing brands.

Peripherals like throttle and PAS can simply be re used by matching the correct wires together , something that some of us can readily guide you to get correct.

Sadly with most oem brands they let them selves down badly with after service and the replacement of display or controller should a fault occur. Our better specialist companies such as Wisper, Woosh, Volt and a few others are good in this dep't but mostly most let the public down badly with help and the repair of said parts.

Fortunately forums like this can step in to help out though it will cost the bike user about £80 - £100 to put right.
