Today J was training for her 40k charity ride next Sunday. Training involves buying a newspaper, cycling to local pub/cafe and eating cake. We then cycle home - anything from 10 to 20k as the mood takes us.
Today, my recently charged battery, two and a half years of age, appears to have died. After half a mile the five lights on the handlebar indicator shrank to two, then one. attempting to ride without pedalling reduced the display to zero. I waved J on her way and headed for home. On the way, which was downhill with the wind behind me, the 5 lights shone again. I decided to call their bluff and turned again into the wind and up the hill. Lights out! 'Drat and trudget!' I cried and headed for home and the coffee pot. The same again - five bright little lights. The battery showed all 3 lights when removed from the bike.
Is there a spell to restore my old friend to health? It's on charge but I have little hope in my heart ...

What sort of cake ?
A delicious sort of cake, full of sweet tastes, a cake of fruit and spices, a sort of cake to make a grown man long for more, a cake to tickle all tastes, a cake for all seasons - must I go on?
A home-baked sort of cake, a cake the National Trust is invested in - that sort of cake!

You're not giving us much to go on. The answer is yes, but it would help if you said which battery it is and your level of competence to diagnose and fix things. Can you solder? Do you understand electrical things like voltmeters?

Generally, batteries can't die suddenly, which means something is broken and therefore can be fixed.
