I have a sakura shopper s305 I believe an old shopper one. It has no throttle. Will a 6 wire one fit or is it like a powabyke where it may not work and run all the time or something. Does anyone know if one would fit or where to get one. Found this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124531914675 just not so sure. 6 wires with a battery indicator I know but not a lot more than that. Any wiring diagrams or advice? thanks

I wish that had worked so a 6 wire throttle arrived. It has the battery indicator in the throttle anoyingly so it's 6. It didn't so much as glimmer. I didn't have a wiring diagram though. I'm thinking of changing the whole controller and throttle but idk if they make one that works with the pas and brake sensor in the bike that's there. If I have to bypass the PAS and have it throttle only I guess oh well but I'd like to keep the brake sensor.

All throttles work with three wires. They all work the same, so any throttle will work.

A six wire throttle has three wires for the actual throttle, typically red 5v, black ground and white throttle signal. Two wires are for the switch, typically brown and yellow. You can test those with a meter to see continuity going on and off when you operate the switch. The last wire, typically green, is for the battery indicator lights. That wire is optional.

If your previous throttle had battery indicator LEDs in it, whatever you do, you mustn't let the wire that powers them touch any of the other wires because it has battery voltage on it. All the other wires are connected to 5v devices that would be wiped out by battery voltage.

Hmm what I'm worried about is it going by itself. Apparently the MK1 and some early mk2s are wired backwards or something and go when it's negative signals or something meaning it might go when the throttle is off and when it's twisted stop thus being quite deadly. The other thing is as it is a 6 wire it has a self diagnosis mode will it work without the connections. I'm tempted to replace the controller and throttle but the question is .. . What with. Is there a controller I can connect my pedal assist to and the brakes sensor and battery without changing those. I mean if I lose pedal assist oh well I don't mind throttle only I don't pedal really expect up hill and to start I use it as self powered usually. But what controller do I fit etc. I just don't know.
