Having aquired a few modern saddles that failed to hit the spot(no pun intended) last week I took some good advice from some hardened cyclists and purchased a Brooks hand made leather saddle. I`m told that once I break it in it will be my constant companion. Well! right from the off it is much more comfy than any of my modern saddles.I did apply copious amounts of Brooks saddle treatment as instructed
It`s a Brooks flyer with rear springs. I notice that it`s a bit slippery but maybe that`s the key.

Just thought I`d share

I'd love a Brooks saddle but I'd mistreat it and ruin it quickly, fortunately I found a good one for a fiver in the end of line bin in my LBS.

Good sunny weather today, gave me a chance to really start to break in the Brooks. To be honest it is very comfortable even as new after adding the break in cream( to the saddle:D Should have brought one from the start. Can`t wait for it to be fully broken in.
Being shiny i was a bit worried about moving around more when cycling but to be honest i think that is the key that instead of being stuck in one position like the gels your bum actually takes the route it needs to. High up on one of the best acc`s I`ve purchased( along with the Blackburn multi bar end mirror.)

More than happy:)

I have one of the original Rido saddles (the tasteful fluorescent yellow one) and it has been excellent. Very comfy and very durable, especially for the price. If the R2 is half as good I will buy one when I next need a saddle.

Hi, are these Rido R2 's as good as they say they are? Thinking of upgrading.

stick with the brooks, when i was a bit younger i used to do Audax rides, where you would ride for 24 hours or more without rest.

a lot of us in those days used to Brooks B17 - bloody murder when new, but when you have done about 10000, miles on it, putting saddle wax on it regularly, it would mould itself to you and be lovely after that.

Yes - They're good - I use one myself, but the strange thing is that they're not particularly comfortable when you first sit on them. They're good because they don't seem to become any more uncomfortable when you sit in them for hours on end. The original Belle Assano saddle that came on my Agattu was more padded, shapely and comfortable when you first sat on it, but left you sore and numb after a couple of hours riding.
