Shopping in Richmond....

...is bad for the wallet! I've been looking at the Panasonic bikes with a view to getting one before the VAT increase and had settled more or less on the E-Motion Sport Max but as fate would have it I found myself in the area so headed to 50Cycles in Richmond to have a look. I had considered the Sahel Pro Disc but in the flesh I wasn't convinced but the Proconnect S hit all the right buttons and as there is an end of year sale on at the moment....well it changed my mind and I've ordered one!

The PC-S proved to be only slightly more expensive than the E-Motion as lights, rack and mudguards are included, I would have liked disc brakes and was aiming for under 20Kg all up weight (the PC-S is 21Kg) but the deal was too good to resist. Looking forward to getting some miles under the wheels!

Well done! I am hanging on for the bikes with bigger battery's, but am tempted by the prices at moment........Did you try both the Sahel and the S? as would be interested in what you think.

Th PC S should be faster then the E Motion I would think?

For those who think that illegal bikes are not noticeable. A Pro Connect S went passed me with such ease it was pretty obvious something was going on, I mean he had big legs but I wasn't hanging around either.

yep, the tuxedo is dry cleaned and waiting!

Eddie, the 26" wheels, rigid forks and slightly heavier overall weight put me off the Sahel.....I just preferred the proconnect

It`s a funny thing, riding my Evans convert today that is over 20 years old and has steel front non suspension forks the ride was as usual superb and combined with the seat post springs for my old back makes it actually the best ride of all my other bikes that have front suspension. A really good well designed set of rigid forks do have a certain amount of spring built in and that positive on the road feel. (hard to believe but if you rode it you realise what I`m on about)

My 25 year old Peugeot with its rigid steel forks was a real pain in the A** to ride until I fitted a set of suspension forks, nothing positve about them on the roads around here

I agree, most bikes I`ve ridden around the lanes where I live need a double helping of front suspension but there is no doubt about it! that old Evans rides like a trooper.I`ll have to take a closer look at the angles etc and try to work out just why it handles the roads so well.

with the 2011 Kalkhoff bikes, I think Im coming down in favour of the PCS as dont really think I want or need an 11 gear Alfine hub on the Sahel. The Swiss flyer I tried had XT gears and I found them real smooth, and they must be a lot lighter. I also think I miss the front suspension a bit as well on my current Wisper, but I do want a comfortable bike
