Hi, my Brother bought a Giant Lafree Twist Comfort ST electric bike quite a few years ago from Thatto Cycles (maybe 2005?), one of the early ones with the 24V 6.5Ah NiMH battery and Panasonic central hub motor. He let me ride it for several years, it still works great and it's about the best electric bike I could ever imagine using, but now wants me to get my own electric bike!
I am mainly concerned with replacement battery and costs. Every time I look up an "affordable" electric bike the cost of the new battery is nearly the cost of the bike! However, I found a decent looking battery on Ebay whilst I was searching for Electric Bikes, this one ;-

...and it's 24V 10AH so should be plenty enough to power a 250W motor for less than 7 miles range, which is about all I ever rode for, I know from experience of using my Brother's bike with 200W motor and about 1/2 the battery capacity!
As you can see the cost is very acceptable, and it's a UK seller so no worries with Air mail from China etc. I have no connection at all to the seller.
What I would like to know please is, what electric bikes does this battery fit? I've done a search on this forum but the term "silver fish" battery is seemingly rather generic. If I could find an affordable (below 600 quid) bike that takes this battery, I would be VERY interested. Also if anyone knows of any older bikes that this would also fit, that I could find second hand, that would be great too!
PS If anyone is wondering whether to buy an electric bike - don't hesitate - they are one of the very greatest
inventions that man kind has ever come up with... and they ARE as good as you imagine them to be when you actually get to ride one!
