Some questions about my new cyclamatic (non-beast)

Well, after the nightmare that is the yodel delivery service I finally got delivery of my £360 cyclamatic today. It took them 9 days to achieve an overnight delivery service but I'd better not get started on that.
The '5 minute build' should be taken with a truck of salt. I could maybe manage it if I had a 16x fast forward button.
The build quality is considerably better than I expected, and I was straight out on it come rain or shine (well, rain was the only option this evening). It handles pedal assistance way better than my currently jalopy and the throttle control is a sweet addition.
I do have some questions for anyone who has one of these;

Is it possible to raise the handlebars?

What's the + button on the handlebar for? Mine appears to do nothing, and the owners manual contains build but no operating instructions.

Front brakes are outrageously squeaky, but I'm guessing this is due to hurried assembly and rain. Any tips would be gratefully received, though.

To raise the handlebars: undo the hex screw underneaththe stem; remove it and the little stepped piece that it holds in place; if you can, loosen the two hex screws in the side of the stem - mine were so tight that I couldn't loosen them; onece the screws are loose, you can rotate the stem to raise the handlebars; if you can't loosen them, tap underneath the front of the stem with a mallet; replace the stepped holding piece and tighten the screws.
The button on the handlebars should disable the motor. I can't remember if it only works on the pedal sensor because I've changed mine now, but I seem to remember strange wiring, where the pedal sensor had two connectors, where one went to the switch.

My brakes squeaked also when new. The guy at Kudos told me to angle the blocks slightly. So imagine the front of the bike to your left you angle them pointing slightly down he told me (and from the other side angle down to the right). Well I tried it after a couple of days of annoying squeaks and it worked. I can't imagine why - but it did.

Best regards

The plus button on the handlebar is used with the lever to change up and down gears.
Push the lever to change down gears. Press the button to change up gears.
If the tension on the gear linkage is wrong, the gears don't work properly and it will appear that the button doesn't do anything.
Find out how to fine tune the gears if this is what's happening. My bike came with instructions to carry this out.
You may find that you temporarily cure the squealing brakes, but never eradicate the problem.
The cause is the cheap, flimsy caliper assembly fitted to the bike.
I cured mine by buying and fitting a Shimano caliper and brake block combo.
Easy enough to fit, and I think it cost me something like £12.
Well worth the money, as now they don't squeal and the bike has stronger braking performance ;)

Thanks for the advice all. Mine was in top gear which is why the + button was doing nothing - I expected it to be something do with with the power!
I suspected cheap brakes might be the issue. I'll see about changing them.
