Stiff battery socket on 2013-2013 Batribike Diamond Pro models

I have a Batribike Diamond Pro which I purchased in August 2014. Since I bought it the battery has been difficult to remove from the cycle socket. Because one has to hold the key in the unlocked position that leaves only one hand to pull the battery out.
