Hi All,
I have posted before with this problem I am having on a tricycle I am electrifying.
Details of problem
Wheels turns slowly can be stopped by hand.
Parts in use
Old powabyke brushed front hub in use new controller new throttle ( hall effect ) 36v sla ( 3 x 12v 12a batteries ) Automotive battery isolater switch for on/off switch
What I have tried and tested
Motor works fine when conected straight to battery pack ( voltage approx 39v )
I have upgraded wiring
checked for power coming to controller thats ok (39v )
power going out of controller thats ok (39V )
Tried a new controller and throttle ( controller is for brushed motors)
Throttle test I had 4.8v on red+ to black-
On signal wire from red+ to signal throttle shut 3.8 if I remember rightly, and and nearly 0v with throttle open.
The voltage may be a little out a meter a cheap one and was trying to hold throttle open with belly :)
There is also power down to the plug before it goes into the hub plug.

I hope someone can put me on the right track as I have exhausted my knowledge.
Many thanks in advance
Fatts

I would go back and start at when the motor works fine when connected to the battery pack, then add other connections one at a time, and find the point when adding a connection stops it from working.

Search the site, if I remember correctly there could be an issue with the throttle on powabykes something about replacement ones working the wrong way round, as you have no volts with throttle open it may be the throttle is not compatible. Sorry I can't help any more but I'm sure this has been discussed on the site previously.

I would say that the problem is still the controller. Temporarily replace the throttle with a 10K potentiometer [about £2 from maplin]. Signal wire goes to center terminal, the other two wires go, in any order to the other two terminals. Potentiometer will then work as a temporary throttle. If it still doesnt work, controllers for brushed motors are a dime a dozen on Ebay. Try to but a throttle and controller from the same seller.

It is either the throttle or the controller. Brush type controllers are cheap on ebay. Buy a throttle and controller from the same seller. Fixed for about £30.
