I bought my first electric bike in 2011. It was a Sunlova with frog battery and Bafang QSWXK5 motor. I did about 3000 miles on it, but then went on yo bigger and better things, so I sold it to my friend Terry for not a lot. He took all the electrical stuff off it any installed it on his Landrover MTB and used it for mainly off-road stuff until I gave him a nice 500w Xofo motor.

I thought that was the end of the Sunlova stuff until about a year ago, there was a knock at my door, and a guy standing there who said that someone had said that I might be able to help him with his battery. After a bit of discussion, it turned out that he had bought the Landrover bike from Terry. I still had my original spare battery that I hadn't used since I sold the bike, so we tried it, and it seemed to work OK. I let the guy have it for nothing because he was pretty poor and the bike was his only transport. Last week he was back again with another sad face and duff battery. After fully testing, the cell-pack could still do 9Ah at 10 amps, but the BMS wouldn't switch on. I didn't have a spare BMS, but I had a spare LiFePO4 frog battery with a faulty BMS and a bucket load of good LiFePO4 BMSs, so I did a quick fix, gave him the new battery, and away he went again happy. I've no idea how many miles that motor's done, but it appears that he uses it a lot.

It's really great when you become reacquainted with your old stuff. It brings back all the happy memories.
