The 18 Most Suppressed Inventions Ever Photo Gallery - All Photos - Conspiracies on truTV.com

It does not surprise me that new inventions/technologies are supressed by large multinational companies, but what does suprise me, is national goverments has allowed the patent law to be used as, the main tool of suppression. There is some talk now about making this practise illegal. which leaves more questions about how our goverments have colluded in the past with such immoral practises ?

There's a lot o conspiracy theory on this subject and many of the accusations simply don't don't fit the facts. This is particularly true of the GM EV1, the destruction of the cars being to protect their technology, something GM have always been prone too. For example they forced SAAB into final closure to prevent the rights to use the technology of their GM engines falling into Chinese hands, a perfectly legitimate action.

And today's patent law cannot have the action attributed to it, although it was once true. Today an idea cannot be patented, only a particular implementation. This change a few years ago was precisely to prevent the abuse this site implies.

The Gm EV1 Scandal was about the BATTERY TECHNOLOGY that was bought, and buried, under patent law by a subsidary company that was owned by the oil company(CHEVRON) patent rights don't expire until 2014. Seems patent law is still being used to supress technology despite any law changes

Yup, it's all true. I have a friend who smoked cannabis and swears he never felt better in his life. And now the Government are wanting to put him in gaol before he tells anyone else about this wonderful discovery!

GM, Chevron and CARB killed the NiMH EV once, will do so again
That was an old patent law of the type I referred to before the change, but this can no longer be done with current ideas. However, it was not why GM recalled their leased EV1 cars and destroyed them, nor did it in any way stop or even impede electric car development as the current crop show. They include GM's Chevrolet Volt and Vauxhall Ampera which give the lie to most of the conspiracy theories surrounding the EV1.

Pressure from governments and the availability of grant money has prompted the motor industry to produce some e-cars, but their very high battery cost and very restricted usefulness has meant no viable continuing sales quantity for non-hybrid types. Further threatening e-car prospects is the huge expansion of fossil fuel reserves currently being opened up by new technology, the USA for example becoming energy self-sufficient within about five years.

The simple obvious and unavoidable fact is the the pure electric car is not a viable proposition to replace the i.c car at present, something that GM has long realised.

That sound very much like the official spin. Toyota was able to improve the NiMH technology that GM was forced to scrap Toyota, Panasonic and other battery makers were sued, forcing a settlement agreement of $30,000,000 to Chevron.

It was Panasonic which carried out the NiMh improvements which were prior to the design of the Prius, that car always using Panasonic cells. The improvements were life related since the early mix of rare metals forming the hydride often prematurely failed in consumer use of various applications, sometimes accepting less than 100 full charges.

I was aware of the Chevron activity which was common to other US companies abusing the old patent law, most notably RCA (later MCA) who started this practice. They twigged that by very cheaply buying up loads of apparently redundant patents they could minutely scour through them and trip up all the companies who were inadvertently breaching them in various ways, reaping large settlements. This was so successful for RCA that it quickly became a mainstay of their business, their first big success being with the use of various plastics materials in loudspeaker cones nearly half a century ago. It didn't take long for others to follow, Chevron being one of them, and like RCA, the patents they owned often had little connection with their mainstream business.

It was the rapid growth of this abuse based business that brought about the change in patent law. It has to be admitted that the USA dragged it's feet on the issue, becoming about the last major country to make the necessary change, quite recently in their case.

Wot? No flux capacitor. I could do with one on the bike these cold mornings, be at work in no time.

The legendary reusable match, supposedly bought up the Swedish Match Co is also strangely not mentioned. Is this list published by Scandanavian spooks as a way of diverting attention?
