Whaaaay! At last - the lesser spotted Mistral; and at a couple of hundred less than a certain e-bike shop currently charges too.

Surprisingly the listing's got a 'make offer' button as well as the 'buy now' button - so entirely possible to get one, brand spanking new, for less than the £589 delivered price of 'buy now'. Now that's just got to propel it to the top of the Best Value Budget E-Bikes available in the UK today. Pity about the 200watt motor when they could have 'gotten away' with fitting the European 250watt spec for little more, as that would have sealed the award beyond reach.

Oooh thanks Bob. I've emailed them to query what's changed in this new batch (am I seeing things or does the battery look different to yours?) and whether it's still got the 'off-road' switch.

I'm almost certain it's the same spec. The mode switch is still there and the battery is the same. The motor is the same, 200 watts is probably to satisfy some regulation or other.

You can always phone them and confirm this, There's a couple of very nice ladies there to help you.

The 200 watts is only a "rating" so doesn't mean much in real terms. For that you need to try it out. A motor rated at 250 watts (from a different manufacturer say) could well have a lower performance to one rated at 200 watts.

Very true.

Case in point is the Powabyke. The motor is only rated as 200w (continuous), but it's peak output of 700w exceeds almost all other current '250w' motors. Just need to head up a steep hill with a big load on board (like the old Powabyke itself ;)) to see that in action!
