Morning all from a very windy North East (too many beans),
I know this will likely make a few yawn and say "not this again" but have any of you geniuses out there sussed a way to unlock a Vulcan and maybe fit a thumb switch...tired or lazy you decide but extra assistance would be great (it's very hilly up here)…….TIA

Hi! north east here, and I have. You don't get much more speed by derestriction, 20mph roughly. You have to change the controller, I'm using this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24V-36V-48V-E-Bike-LCD-Display-Panel-Electric-Bicycle-Brushless-Controller-CO/302951217966?hash=item46894cbb2e:m:mFD4LqKErvfxVzJP4mAOIAg

You need to go under the battery and undo the four screws to get at the controller box, cut the wires and crimp some connectors on to match the new controller. Change to a standard crankset with magnet sensor as the torque sensor won't work, swap the display and add throttle, job done. When you get bored this controller will take a 48v battery which takes you to a whopping 25mph on a still day. On a day like today you still need to pedal a bit unfortunately but it does make it easier. Oh and obviously this voids warranty so have a soldering iron and bits of wire handy in case. Good luck!

And of course if mr plod gets you you are in for a multitude of charges as well as points on your licence - assuming you have one, is it worth it?

I do have a licence which to be fair I risk every time I take one of the motorbikes out, however points for a pushbike would be rather embarrassing.....at the moment this is just a thought and I'm only testing the waters so to speak, cheers for the concern though

They don't even bat an eyelid round here. Too busy chasing chavs on dirt bikes. The irony...

Been past police sitting at a roundabout going 25mph+ whilst peddling twice this week already. Pro cyclists and decent road cyclists go those speeds all day. Don't act like a jackass.

Whip out the old and replace with a new controller system, you have two options.
A PAS cadence system or TS drive system, both need new controller and some wiring the later being a bit more expensive option.
