Hi all. In my introduction post I mentioned that I have an Urban Mover UM10 36 Elite. I've had the bike for just over a year. It was my first electric bike and I have been enjoying it. I use it to commute to work.
A couple of months ago the pedal bracket started to become loose; you could move it from side-to-side. I'm not very knowledgeable about these things and didn't realise that meant it was broken! I just thought it was loose. I brought it to be repaired. It had to be replaced, and there was some difficulty in getting Urban Mover to supply a new bracket.
It now turns out that the crank movement sensor has been damaged during installation of the new bearings, although there doesn't seem to be evidence of damage to them. It would seem that the only option is to replace this part, as the wire may have been strained during removal of the crank. In addition, it appears that the bottom bracket spindle is missing some spacers, as it has some movement side to side in the bottom bracket bearing. It currently has two spacers on either side.
The bike shop has had real difficulty getting in touch with Urban Mover in order to buy a new movement sensor and the correct spacers. I know that past forum threads have indicated the same problem getting in touch with someone there. I was hesitant to buy a bike from an unknown manufacturer, but was reassured by the link to Claud Butler. Am I right in thinking that CB have washed their hands of UM?
Any advice would be appreciated, but please keep in mind that I'm not very knowledgeable about the technicalities involved! Thanks
