Used first gear today!

Used the first gear today on my Agattu, first time i have needed it.
Went to Bestwood country park, its fairly local but not worth traveling to, anyway everywhere is pretty much uphill or downhill, some very steep and the paths are fairly new crushed stone.
I found there is a very fine line between getting traction in first gear or spinning the back wheel, anyway got the hang of it in the end.
Coming down these paths was 'interesting' both wheels pretty much locked, just easing the front so i didn't wash out and all without the aid of 'disc brakes'

i used 1st gear and high power on the steepest part of my ride yesterday. I was very apologetic to a guy on the steepest part as i sailed past him.....

Enjoyed a lovely ride last Sunday down in Cornwall.
Par Sands via St Austell to Mevagissey and back via Charlestown, using the Clay Trails where possible.
Great run down to the harbour.

Needed 1st gear coming back up the clay trail from Mevagissey. In places, the crushed stone trail was strewn with wet leaves, but the Marathon Plus ATB tyres gripped well.

The ATB tyres for 28" wheels don't appear in the 2012 Schwalbe catalogue. Are they no longer made ?
