Using GoPro with electric bike USB power

I'm planning on going for a cycle ride on my Carerra Crossfire-E electric bike and the journey in total will be around 40 miles. I am hoping the battery will last that long. I am going to be filming the entire journey with my GoPro Hero Session camera. Only thing is that the battery on the GoPro only lasts around an hour and a half. However, I was thinking of using the the built in USB power on my electric bike's pedometer to keep the camera going as well as charging it while on my journey. Has anyone done this without any problems. Please advise.

I was able to charge my phone on the go, using this method. Plugging it in to the usb port on the bike battery. The battery lasts for over 2 hours on my little bike cams. So I've not tested that yet. I'll go do that in few minutes.

Previously, I had the same idea for my bike light. After finding a usb cable that fitted, it didn't work for that, and I could never figure out why.

It works fine with both of my TCL SVC cams ( a 200 and a 400). Switched off, they charge from the bike battery. Switched on, they record as normal, whilst showing that they're plugged into a regular power point plug. Top right icon on the camera screen.






Would it be the same setup for you? As I'm not 100% sure what you mean by this;-

Yeah on most electric bikes the USB is on the actual bike battery. However on the Carrera Crossfire-E the USB is on the pedometer.

I tried connecting my GoPro camera to the USB and it does indeed charge it up and keeps the camera running which means I can film as much footage as possible from the bike's battery which is good news.
