The plug on my cyclotricity bike failed in a shower of sparks. I removed it and eventually a mate got into the device but now he is not certain which wire to connect to what. I mailed Cyclotricity but not had any response. Anyone know?

.. best thing to do is to photograph it and post it up and then request a similar photo from a working one..

That has different meanings to different people. You need to be a lot more specific about what you mean by "plug", and tell us what exactly is damaged.

Thanks all.

Its the plug, that connects the water bottle battery to the electrics. Photos of the wire and the plug uploaded. It has four female connectors. The two on the left of the photo looking face on, are commoned. so the two on the right are the positive and negative but I don't want to take the 50/50 gamble...WP_20170623_16_24_50_Pro.jpg WP_20170623_17_24_54_Pro.jpg WP_20170623_17_25_04_Pro.jpg WP_20170623_17_25_29_Pro.jpg

If you still have the metal shroud for that connector, you don't need anything. You just solder the wires back on. there's a black and red wire in the lead. You split the ends of each into two to solder them to the 4 pins. It's very important to get them in the right sequence to match the battery connector. You must use a meter to see which two pins are positive and which are negative. You must be careful with the soldering to make sure that the wires can't touch each other. Use heatshrink if necessary. I normally fill the connector with silicone RTV before reassembling so that the whole thing is cast in rubber, which gives it better support and less chance of shorting out.
