To get my powabyke X6 back on the road I've opted for a 10AHr 36V Ping battery rather than the 6AHr standard 'waterbottle/rocket launcher' powerbyke issue.

Im expecting to mount it on the back rack, I see from the forums that I'll need to build a case for it, fit a fuse and a switch.
I'll need to charge the battery away from the bike, has anyone made a waterproof battery case? Would I be better making the whole case removeable, or creating a waterproof door in it to remove the Battery?

Does it even need to be that weatherproof? the battery on my Motorbike is not exactly sealed away....

No need for a fuse the BMS takes care of that, the most important thing is protecting the delicate battery, the cells are soft inside the heat shrink. I use a box made from aluminium sheet with padding on the inside. I don't seal them and I have not had any problems due to water ingress (and I ride 365 days a year), any water that does get in is allowed to leak out of the bottom of the box. The v2.5 batteries are really good by the way, and there is a v3 version that's been out about 9 months that's even better, but you need to contact Ping direct for them, they are not on his website for some reason. Ask for the 5 amp charger, it makes life so much easier being able to charge from flat in 2 hours.
I've bought 9 Ping's so far, only had a problem with my first a v1 that arrived damaged.

Grizzly Bear, did you pay import taxes or extra charges on any of your Ping batteries?

No no far from it :D
The reason i asked is that a while ago i bought some KYB car parts from the U.S. They were a really good price until dirty rotten customs slapped their fee on top.
Plus Royal Mail got a kick in with a postal charge too!!!
The Ping's are good value for money, so don't want the same to happen here.

I bought 5 in one go and didn't get caught! Ping batteries are the easy and good option, but a123 batteries are better big time! I feel like I'm hijacking this thread now, sorry boys. :)

No Prob - how about locks GB? is your Aly case lockable or do you never leave the battery on the bike? Do you revove the Bat from the box or remove the whole box?

Sorry for the late reply, we've been away. I build the box to fit into the triangle of the frame, it is a permenant fixture and in my opinoin the best way to do it. If you would like to see some of my bikes PM me and I will send you some images.
