I had to pop out yesterday for a local trip, the first bike I grabbed was my un- assisted cube with a nexus 8
[its my next project] to my surprise I can now pedal flat out in top gear with out to much effort and I did not miss the assistance on the hill , I thought the e bike might make me lazy but quite the opposite seems to be the case has anyone else noticed this

As someone who only started cycling again at the beginning of this year, I know quite certainly that I could not have managed without assistance.

I can now cycle up the steepest bit of my commute on middle power (not quite there at lowest assistance - yet). But I can also happily cycle a fair part of my route at about 20 mph - peaking at just over 30 mph on a modest downhill. Obviously, above 15.5 (think my bike really drops out at an indicated 16.5 mph) all the effort comes from me and whatever gravity can add.

If I had one to compare, I think I would manage so much more on an unpowered bike than just six months or so ago.

E Bikes still keep you fit as I have found. I had not ridden my unpowered tourer (a Dave Yates special) for quite some time owing to neck pain so my E bike has been the go to machine. However, having now fitted a raised stem to my tourer, I took it out for the first time in months and rode 32 hilly miles with legs to spare.
