I work in a large London Borough and we are building an Annexe to our Town Hall. Following another thread about providing secure cycle racks I contacted the architects and have been invited to a meeting next week to look at the plans for a 220 bike storage facility and the design and location of 20 staff showers. I assume there will be a number of bike storage racks in the large open area surrounded by three sides of the building, and male and female changing facilities.
I have added the links to the virtual tour of the building below.

I would be grateful if members could spare a little time to give their ideas on what makes the best cycle storage, and any pointers of what not to do. I would also be grateful for any comments about the location and design of shower facilities.
The building shell is already up, so any comments I make will have limited impact, but I appreciate their openess and would like to add our collective wisdom.
Just had another look at the virtual tours and no bike racks visible, so they may be hiding them out of site but the public will also need them. My view is that they may detract from the look of modern buildings but out of site is not so secure as right in front of the main entrance, but then again, 220 racks is a lot of racks!
