Hi folks,

I've been a bit quiet lately what with the little one arriving, but have still been churning up the miles on the bh xtreme.

I've added a weeride to cart the little man around, and he loves it, but i'm starting to wonder if the bh is the bike i need to be on (and to be honest, i'm in need of some retail therapy) i've switched out the bars to give a bit more space between me and the seat, but the geometry is poor as too much reach is needed and the bike is destabilised as my (not insignifficant) bulk is further over the back wheel with the seat a lot lower.

My original plan was that my next bike should be a home build, but with zero time that isn't going to happen.

my only requirements are as follows

1. got to be as fast or (pref) faster than the bh.
2. i'd like it to still be usable for gentle offroad (canal paths and the like)
3. it needs a standard head tube diameter
4. i'd like it to be a bit more solid and reliable than the bh before i started messing with it.
5. i want pedelec, not just throttle.

any thoughts or suggestions?

cheers

Rob

Hi Rob,

I would suggest that an eZee bike might fit the bill for retail therapy as well as you other requirements, just take your pick.

With the arrival of the little man and another mouth to feed, don't over look the Sprint Primo.

Regarding off road ability, they are all capable with the right tyres.

You can see the eZee range here http://www.cyclezee.com/ezee-e-bikes--pedelecs.html

BHs are known to go quite well (when they are going), so I can't see a 15mph restricted bike meeting your spec.

How about the Oxygen Emate mountain bike?

I had a brief go on one and there's no doubt it pulls well - more strongly than a Bosch bike.

It has a throttle and can be derestricted.

Fit is a personal thing, but I like a shortish reach, like you, and it fitted me well.

The tyres are possibly a bit too off-road, but slap on a pair of Big Apples and you would have a fast bike on the road which would also handle cinder track.

You want a fast bike on the road and Big Apples, look no further:)

You want to mix in bit of off road with it then Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tour is the answer:)
