I'm ready to swap the electrics off my Alien Cruiser and on to my Raleigh Rudge folding mountain bike - as designed by Montague (many years ago)
I'd like to be able to do two things.
1. Physically cut the cable to the front wheel hub motor and insert a coupling of some sort so I can easily disconnect and remove the front wheel.
2. Put a switch on the Pedelec function so I can turn it off and ride at very slow speeds without the power cutting in eg when I'm riding along a crowded canal towpath.
I believe the motor is a Bafang. 36SWX01-250 and the serial number is BF803D14606.

Please can you recommend the best way to achieve this?

First determine if you have a sensor-less motor or one with sensors.

If sensor-less then one of these 3-way automotive connectors from Ebay work well:

If you have sensors then you have an extra 5 connections to make which makes things a little more tricky. You will need either two connectors, one for the phase wires (as above) plus another connector for the sensors or a single multi way connector. The Phase wires carry more current so the above automotive connector would still be OK and a smaller 5 pin mini DIN could be used for the sensor wires. Otherwise CPC have a multitude of options! Like these waterproof multiway connectors and sockets:

As for the Pedelec, Maplin sell small toggle switches and waterproof covers...all you would then need to do is fashion a handlebar bracket out of plastic or aluminium or even a P clip and switch the 5v supply to the pedelec sensor. You could go all techie and switch the pedelec output signal to ground via a resistor like I did(!) but it's probably simpler to switch the 5v even if not as elegant!
