  1. Doesn’t seem a problem, this German ebay supplier looks to have a London presnce as welland does a 15Ahr for £240
  2. All of my batteries, originals and a couple of replacement ones have only the one notch. If you look in the area the battery goes, there is nothing requiring any slots in that area. I’ve fed you model into their site, and it comes up with the same compatible batteries. The lower capacity and cheaper one (17.6 Ahr) is not in stock But the higher capacity one is (23.2Ahr) and its free delivery. in addition, these batteries are compatible with original chargers. Re-celling may well be a cheaper option. Let me know how you get on if you pursue the re-celling route. https://www.allbatteries.co.uk/electric-bike-battery/panasonic-motor-26v/kalkhoff/agattu-c3-aml9132.html best regards mike
  3. What about this? https://www.allbatteries.co.uk/electric-bike-battery/panasonic-motor-26v/victoria/sevilla-aml9121.html?utm_source=GoogleProductSearch&utm_medium=comparator&utm_campaign=GPS&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjpvv7_qG9QIVwsLtCh0ZnwHzEAQYAiABEgK-RPD_BwE
  4. Sounds like a pedal bearing, I usually swap Pedals from another bike to check and most of the time that’s where the noise is coming from. i’m like Nealh, do most of my own servicing, except when I buckled a wheel. Mike
  5. What year? Is it fitted with cable calliper, hydraulic rim or hydraulic disc brakes? The calliper brakes are shimano, the rim hydraulic are Magura HS11. Don’t know about hydraulic disc. regards.
  6. Is the original charger supplier for the 10Ahr Panasonic batteries still OK to charge these higher capacity Vinteky 20.8Ahr batteries or is a different charger required?
  7. as Nealh says, we need info on what bike etc... i’m local to you but woukd heed some info to provide any advice I have.
  8. BazP said: As I said, we will have to agree to disagree. I’m sorry if I made the assumption that you seem to know more than all of the UK authorities on how to combat a new world threat. Flecc replied..... I only know more about how to protect myself and the others around me where I am, by tailored measures to suit the circumstances. That involves breaking the odd rule that threatens the safety of myself and others if complied with, which seems to upset those like yourself. So you disagree without any knowledge of how I am threatened by a rule. ————————————————————————————————————————————————— I agree with Flecc and repeat my earlier view that The Govt gives guidance and makes rules to accommodate the lowest common denominators in society (of which there are plenty judging by pictures in the press), who are either incapable of seeing or understanding risk. These blanket rules take no account of specific situations where the local risk is higher than a short journey away to more open spaces.
  9. Agree with all of what you‘ve said flecc, would only comment that the ‘State’ seems determined to legislate or make rules to allow for the lowest common denominators in society, many of which are not capable of looking after their own safety, nor considering the safety of those around them. That does not mean police bullying is acceptable to those of us out exercising within guidelines.
  10. Agree...think a more considered observation might be.... Source.......A “delicacy” of an entire nation that mutated to vanquish it's predator. Well if certain “cultures” are going to carry on eating bats, snakes, and monkeys, it’s no wonder that the whole world has been contaminated with viruses...you'd have thought we would have learned from the SARS, MERS, Ebola and other historic plague pandemics....obviously not, and now we're ALL paying the price!!!!
  11. The roads my wife and I love best to cycle along are the single track C roads, best with a 'ridge' of dirt etc. down the centre. It is no trouble to pull over and let cars pass, and generally results in friendly acknowledgement. We are out to enjoy the air, scenery etc. not some sort of race. What annoys me is when minor B roads are used as rat runs by inconsiderate drivers racing to get home that few minutes earlier. Cycling two abreast on all roads, and especially B and C roads is as bad as the 'rat runners'. Often note the' two abreast-ers' are generally lycra clad. It's the busier roads where it is essential 'to command your space' in the road to make sure impatient drivers don't try and squeeze by. Why do some drivers think once they've got their 'snout' past you, it doesn't matter about their tail end and proceed to cut in? Be it drivers or cyclists, there are always 'The good, The bad, and The downright Ugly' in terms of road manners.
  12. Just like cycling in the 1960s, except that cars are zippier today than those ’classics’ of yesteryear. However, some drivers who see these deserted roads, think speeding is somehow acceptable. There also seems to be a higher percentage of boy racers arounds. One potential benefit of everyone having to socially distance, drivers are getting to know what 2 metres is by queueing to get in Supermarkets, etc. Until now I think many thought 2 meters meant this...... Thus, when it’s all over there is a (faint) hope they will understand what 1.5 metres looks like, and keep this recommended distance when passing cyclists on the road.
  13. Nah! Can’t be a real Postie, he aint’t got shorts on!
  14. Bought one of the ’Geman’ batteries last May (2019) from a similar supplier based in Portsmouth and they get them in from Germany (think they may have more than one ebay name - batteries and exactly the same, price the same, picture the same). Works fine, and the 20.8Ah capacity is great, meaning greater distance, less recharge etc. Pleased with purchase, and will be back in the market soon for my wife‘s bike. I’m replacing original batteries on 2008 ProConnect Kalkhoff bikes (which have done 18,000 miles each). Even now these batteries are holding 80% of ofiginal capacity. Replacing batteries whilst they're about, may not always be around at competitive prices. May not be in answering the phone, but online sales still in operation.
  15. Sorry if this has been said already in this thread. Been out exercise cycling on three days this week and would make the following observations.... 1. Certainly around Bournemouth it considerably safer to cycle on roads since Monday, much less traffic and more cyclists around. Not unlike the 1960s EXCEPT what cars are about are zippier than the old ‘crocks‘ of that era (lovely A35s, Morris Minors etc.). 2. The problem with quieter roads is that certain drivers see this as an opportinity to speed, and a higher percentage of boy racers and Freytags about (Freytag - see Clint Eastwood in Eiger Sanction “Freytag you a......“ echoing around the valleys). 3. Everybody we‘ve meet, be it cyclists or walkers keep their distance and are courteous, polite and friendly. 3. My wife and I believe our risk of hospitalisation, either from accident or illness is lower by cycling at the present time. As an aside..... Pictures of Bournemouth Promenade on Sunday in the National press with walkers and cyclists milling about shows just how inane and stupid some people can be, which is why the heavy hand is required. “Follow the advice or you will be made to.“ Take one look at the people about and then avoid. In any case, even without the virus, who in their right mind would go down there on a cycle ride on a sunny Mothering Sunday. Doh!
  16. 50cycles posts seem to be coming "like wraiths by the water, or like thistledown on the breeze blown". They appear, then, when challenged, disappear into thin air. PS “wraith” - a ghost or ghostlike image of something, especially one seen shortly before or after their demise.
  17. EDIT - WOW, WHEN YOU COME BACK AT THEM, THEN THE ORIGINAL POST BY THEM DISAPPEARS, PRESUMABLY BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE THE RESPONSE AND THAT THEY WERE WRONG. INDEED, THEY ONLY USED IT TO PROMOTE THE 50k miles we've achieved out of Panasonic Kalkhoffs, two bought from them. That was at a time when one could trust the 'Brands' involved. My post was in response to your post which asked IF THERE WERE ANY REAL CUSTOMERS on this forum to which I started ME! I do not have to have a complaint to post, (apart from ever being seduced by advertising into buying an Impulse 2) but I can still advise to other members my experiences which I outlined. Until the Impulse 2 saga, my belief in the Kalkhoff brand and 50cycles never wavered, always recommending both to whoever asked. I have not always get good support service in later years, particularly with regard to spares. I watched the decline of both the Kalkhoff brand and the progressively poorer support from 50cycles with ever limited spares. I turned instead to helpful European outlets (particularly ProCycling Golla) to meet my needs. Would I buy any latest offering from yourselves. No.
  18. ME!!! 50cycles in their hey day, prior to the ‘Impulse‘ motor fiasco, were helpful and a useful source of spares and advice. We bought two bikes in July 2008 from them and joined this forum within days of those purchases. (no jonnie-come-lately then!). The Panasonic motor-ed bikes they sold being, and still are, absolutely superb. I now get great advice and spares from two companies in Germany and Holland. I got caught though when considering an update for my wife’s bike, at the time when motors were being changed. Regrettably, I bought an Impulse2 driven one, started to read the alarming reports as the Impulse saga developed, and ‘moved it on’ at a considerable loss, but less than the loss I would have suffered had I kept it. I made the buyer fully aware of the risks, he didn’t seemed concerned as he had just purchased EVO one with the battery in the downtube and wanted ours for his wife. Wonder how he got on? Fortunately, I retained the wife’s original bike, mainly because she didn’t really like the characterless paintwork, style, and heavy new bike, preferring her ProConnect all the time. So, I set about getting spare bikes, as little used, well looked after second hand bikes off of ebay to have good Kalkhoff Panasonic bikes in reserve. This was well before the more recent ‘jumping and the second hand trade-in bandwagon that 50cycles jumped on, so picked up barely used bikes for about £400 a piece. Thus we have Kalkhoff electric bikes on which we have covered 50,000 miles (2x 18k, 9k, and 5k respectively), and all bikes still ride like new and should ‘see us out’! So, yes, there are real customers on this forum, who have helped each another at times, with flecc being a particularly good source of technical advice and market knowledge. I followed and commented on the original Impulse2 thread, and always took note of threads related to Kalkhoff and 50cycles including this present thread. Over the years we have been stopped and spoken to about our bikes by countless passer-byes. In the first 5years, prior to Impulse2, we enthused wholeheartedly about the bikes and never hesitated to recommend them or 50cycles. How times have changed, would NEVER offer such are recommendation nowadays, neither Kalkhoff nor 50cycles in whatever it latest incarnation is.
  19. I think you will be lucky if they will provide what you hope for. Even before going into bust they had severely run down spares like sprockets etc. If you get into trouble sourcing spares try pro-golla cycling in Germany. Good stock of spares for Panasonic and impulse motor Kalkhoff bikes. Had great sevice from them myself for past few years. Mike
  20. Hope you checked the one you wanted, there is the choice between a 1/8 or 3/32 chain depending upon the chainyou have on your model. I have bikes with both Nexus hub gears, and 9 speed deraulier gears on pro Connect S. Got caught out many years ago by 50cycles who sent me 3/32 chainwheel for a 1/8. Hub geared Kalkhoff.
  21. First place you need to look is Flecc's excellent Panasonic info site http://www.flecc.co.uk/p/panindex.html . One of the unused plugs (think it's the triple wire one) is for the walk assist button to plug into, which provides assistance at walking speed of up to 4mph.
  22. Do you cycle in rain? I have had trouble with the controller on one of my panasonic controllers on similar Kalkhoff bikes. The problem was water ingress when out in rain, with the controller going dead. Fortunately, It dried out and now we always cover the controller when it starts raining, with a see through freezer bag, secured with an elastic band. Have managed to soure a new controller from pro-golla in Germany but haven't bothered to fit yet. Mike
  23. See also my post in your other thread New Member Dorset.it's got further comments in it.
  24. Pro golla in Germany have proved very useful for me. Have bought controller for Panasonic motor from them and will be using them for specific Kalkhoff/Panasonic now 50cycles have all but disowned the bikes. Not surprising given the Impulse motor fiasco. On my wife's bike I've had trouble with water ingress in the controller (LED one not the later LCD ones) . It dried out, and all I do nowadays is to cover it over with a transparent freezer bag whenever rain threatens. WORKS!!! Hooe your controller dries out or Pro Golla have a replacement. Also bought direct a walking assist button for a spare bike I bought, which were available in 2008/2010 but hard to find nowadays. The owner (i think) at Pro golla can advise on what's available and you can talk to him on phone, the contact is https://www.pro-cycling-golla.de/ EDIT the chaps name is Ulli Might be worth a try. The site is in german so I've had to resort to Google tanslate at times. Hope you have luck getting going again. I live in Bournemouth, you'll struggle I think to get any Kalkhoff help locally. PS Two of our Kalkhoff Panasonic ProConnects are 11 years old this coming August and each covered 17,000+ miles. Still on original batteries. Combined total mileage on all 3 bikes is over 40,000 miles. It's the later/latest incarnations that have the shorter life expectancy I think. You'll see from my sign off, we dabble with a Impulse powered Kalkhoff, but got shot of as soon as the Impulse2 'fiasco' surfaced. Bought some v. Low mileage Pro Connects as back-ups for the future. Bargains at less than £400 and immac low mileage.
