What to plug in first when charging the battery
Thanks for your kind replies, I am a bit of a novice regarding the electrics so I contacted the seller again to ask which option he has used for the past 3 years and he confirmed once again that it was option 1 - plugging charger round pin connector into battery first then plug chargers main plug into electricity. even though I am a novice, I thought this method may cause some current flowing from the battery into the charger, but I looked on oxydrive kit manual and this is what it stated To charge the battery, plug the power socket into the mains and a round plug of the charger into the battery socket. Once it’s done, you can plug the charger’s main plug to the electricity socket. It is important that you follow this specific order as connecting the charger’s main plug first may cause a short circuit.

What to plug in first when charging the battery
Hi I’ve just bought a good hybrid ebike that was converted electrically, 3 years ago Can I ask...What is the best sequence when charging the battery please Option 1 Plug charger connector into the battery first, then plug the charger plug into the electricity socket Option 2 Plug charger plug into the electricity socket, then plug the charger connector into the battery The owner says that he has used option 1 for the past 3 years so that may answer my question, but I’ve read that this particular method may in some cases, cause some power transfer from the battery into the charger and have a detrimental effect on the chargers internal capacitors. The current oxydrive kit parts on the bike are Dehawk battery ...36v 14ah with Panasonic cells controller .............Das-kit ct-d5k-44 Charger.................Li-ion model SSLC084V42. Input AC100V-240V ~1. 8A max 47-63HZ Output. 42.0V …2.0A motor.....................8 fun bafang rear hub motor 700c wheel 250w display...................Das-kit c6 display Many thanks, Dave

Are these ebike parts available please
Just an update, after the great advice that I received on here, I decided to go and see the bike and I actually ended up buying it. I know that it’s always a risk buying anything that is used, but I am really pleased with the bike, both mechanically and electrically. The seller was a complete gentleman, has really cared for the bike and it was a pleasure completing the transaction. Only time will tell if it is reliable, but at least I know there is a good chance of getting the parts required. I really appreciate the advice from vfr400 and Neath best wishes, Dave

Thanks very much again vfr400 for taking the time to reply and for all your kind advice, I very much appreciate it.....I was unsure about buying the bike due to possible available parts that I may need in the future, but your advice gave me some comfort in knowing that there are parts or other options available if and when required.

Thanks very much for your kind reply vfr400 and you are correct, oxydrive did originally supply the das-kit, but they unfortunately have now ceased trading. I enquired at Leoncycles and they said they no longer supply the das-kit conversion kits and have limited similar parts, but they will be better equipped in the future especially with their link with NCM as you mentioned. Ive never soldered anything to be honest, but knowing that I could use standard parts , motor, batter and controller etc has really helped me, thanks again vfr400, you have been very helpful

Are these ebike parts available please
Hi i am thinking of buying a used converted ebike, but I just wanted to ask your kind advice about possible available parts to buy for it in the UK, especially the same battery and controller. I have searched extensively, but cannot find any, I wondered if these parts had different part names or numbers, but were the same items below. The current parts on the bike are Dehawk battery ...36v 14ah with Panasonic cells controller .............Das-kit ct-d5k-44 motor.....................8 fun bafang rear hub motor 700c wheel 250w display...................Das-kit c6 display this kit was fitted to the bike 3 years ago, so although it’s ok at the moment, it will probably need updating sooner or later. I would prefer to just replace like for like parts when needed, but if these parts are not available then is there an available full kit, UK road legal 250w rear hub kit including battery with similar power as above. many thanks, Dave9

Is this ebike UK legal
Hi, just thought I would give an update regarding the ebike that I bought. The seller has kindly given me my money back and taken the bike back. There were a number of issues, which to be honest, could have been repaired, but it was the overpowered motor that concerned me more than anything with the strong possibility of it being illegal. Thanks for all your advice.

Thanks again vfr400, I've got plenty of thinking to do, but meanwhile I hope I can remain, an incognito cyclist lol

Is this ebike UK legal
That is a bit naughty gsm.terra and a good idea although the hub motor in my rear wheel is quite a large size, which gives the game away somewhat

Is this ebike UK legal
When I initially went to see the bike, the seller explained that he could either leave it at 750w or restrict the motor down to 250w to make it road legal and that is what I wanted so I’ve only ever ridden it with motor at 250w, I am going to disconnect the throttle anyway so it will just be pedal assistance at 250w. The basic handlebar battery level component I assume, may probably mean that the pedal assist will be at full power, but I wondered like what you mentioned that by restricting the motor, may reduce the pedal assist power. Wow these ebike electronics are certainly a steep learning curve

it does have pedal assist and I think It just gives full power, just a basic, but powerful setup. So my options are 1, To keep this current set up and take a chance even though the 500w motor is restricted to 250w or 2, buy a new 28inch wheel with a 250w motor and keep the same powerful controller, which I prefer because I am a novice at the electronics so would prefer to keep the current controller, but only if it is safe to do so. ( and at least it will not overheat ) 3, add the new controller to number 2 set up above many thanks again
