  1. Slightly late in delivery, my Powacycle Salisbury LPX arrived yesterday morning in a gigantic box. The large but fairly light Li-Po battery was put straight on charge whilst I fixed the pedals and handlebar onto the frame using the supplied tool kit. After removing all the excess packaging protecting the frame I noticed several small scratches on the frame, and the plastic housing to the mode select switch was shoddy to say the least. However I have emailed the seller who says this will be resolved. 6 hours later...the battery fully was charged and the bike ready to go! Mum came over for the first test drive - a trip from my apartment two miles up the road to a local park. We raced, leaving at the same time with Mum driving. She arrived only 30 seconds before me! Actually riding the bike is pure fun. I'd done a lot of research into e-bikes and assumed that it would just make riding a bike a bit easier. But it really is a case of just "twist and go"! Or on pedelec mode it feels like someone pushing you from behind - every pedal you do, it feels like the Salisbury is rewarding you with about 4 strokes in return! The brakes are standard, but perfectly acceptable, V-brakes and cope well with sudden stops at 15mph! The Salisbury has 6 shimano gears which seems to be all you need really on this bike. The seat is much better quality than I expected for the price and fairly comfy - although I would recommend cycling gloves for the handlebars which don't have much grip! The acceleration is ideal in throttle only mode. It slowly builds up speed instead of 'whooshing' off without you - although due to the weaker motor compared with other models if you plan to approach an incline in throttle mode you will need to have a high speed first - you won't get far starting at the bottom of a hill unless you provide some pedal power too! Yesterday the bike managed a trip to the park and back home, a trip to the shops and home, then a trip to the cinema (X-Files is over-rated:rolleyes:) , back up to the park and then home again - a total of about 10 miles on throttle only. The battery is still over half full, and the bike coped with no problems! Today I am attempting a trip to the doctors (3.4miles return), a visit to my grandfather (5 miles) then an evening trip to halfords (4miles)...all of which would have been impossible for me before. If only I'd bought one of these 10 months ago The best £500 ever spent Thanks, Agent Ginger
  2. Thanks for adding me, Flecc Still waiting on my bike!:o Should be here tomorrow though! We got my boyfriend a push bike today which is pretty smooth, can't wait to ride together!
  3. Thanks! Bike arriving tomorrow: PowaCycle Salisbury LPX, postcode IP2. Much excitedness!
  4. Thankyou We've ordered the Salisbury and it will be arriving tomorrow! Its so exciting. Which bikes do you have? I think there should be a bit where our usernames are to include bike type in addition to name and location:D Its going to be hard to resist the temptation to take my house rabbit for a ride with me when it arrives! *laughs*
  5. Thankyou once again for your response I think I will order the PowaCycle...my reasoning being if there isn't much between the two then it may be easier to source parts for the Salisbury than the Mistral. Next to save for one for my partner too so we can ride together and he can cycle to work!
  6. Congratulations on getting Spirit! I have also been lusting over the 905SE but too expensive for me, I'm glad you are enjoying it though! Just make sure your you don't over-do the fish'n'chips and McDonalds or you might find your range dramatically reduced Or at least the misses threatening to take it away! Congrats!
  7. Thankyou! Your comments are really appreciated, Flecc. How much range do you think they would have with very little peddling? PS the homework was mainly done on this forum hehe
  8. I'm so excited and can't wait to order one, if you think its a good idea after the information posted above! It would give me so much freedom Which of those three bikes would you buy and why?
  9. I live in Ipswich, in the gloriously flat Suffolk! Hopefully that will help the range of whichever bike I (eventually) decide on!
  10. I'm new to this forum after many months of lurking, so hello to everyone! I think I'm now ready to take the plunge...but having never tried an electric bike or known anyone with one I would just like the go-ahead from you guys Basically I have M.E so have very little energy to be able to walk places. The bus gets expensive and is irregular where I am, and I cannot afford a car, so electric bike seems like an ideal solution. However, with an electric bike I would only be able to provide very little pedalling input, so it would mainly be throttle only. I live in Suffolk so the terrain is very flat, weight 9st and would only need to do round trips of up to 15miles....and have a budget limitation of £550!!! I have a shortlist of three bikes and would really appreciate your input as to whether they would be a realistic choice or not! PowaCycle Salisbury LPX - POWACYCLE SALISBURY ELECTRIC BIKE BICYCLE LPX- Lithium on eBay, also, Bikes, Cycling, Sporting Goods (end time 07-Aug-08 20:04:33 BST) Unkown Folder - Electric Folding Bicycle Bike 36V 10Ah Lithium Ion NEW on eBay, also, Bikes, Cycling, Sporting Goods (end time 07-Aug-08 11:22:14 BST) Synergie Mistral - SYNERGIE MISTRAL LITHIUM E-Bike Electric Bike Bicycle on eBay, also, Bikes, Cycling, Sporting Goods (end time 08-Aug-08 13:50:17 BST) All very similar prices, but which do you think suits my needs best? Is the Lithium Polymer battery on the LPX necessarily better than Li-Ion on the others? Sorry for such a long post, thanks for reading! Agent Ginger
