  1. I have a Haibike Sduro All Mtn RC 2016 and I'm completely happy with it. Apart from a few punctures I've had ZERO issues after 3000 miles. It's tempting to think about upgrades but apart from a few tweaks the only differences seem to be in tube batteries, which I do like, but it's not a good enough reason to spend money on upgrading. Things have developed well this year, I think 2019 will be even more interesting.
  2. Depressing to hear these problems. I was very interested in the Brose motor last year when I saw it in a Rotwild, beautiful integration, so I spent quite a long time on the German pedelecforum.de using Google translate. There have been an awful lot of issues with Brose reported there, especially thermal cutout and the like. One can only hope that it will clear up in due course. FWIW my Yamaha drive has been faultless for 2500 miles....so far...
  3. An illuminating interview with Justin Lemire-Elmore of Grin Technologies, Vancouver, CA. who says that battery life can be SIGNIFICANTLY increased if they are only charged to 80 per cent, with a full charge every few weeks for the purposes of cell balancing. at about 19 minutes in. According to him this is how Tesla can offer up to eight years life on their car batteries, which are simply massive arrays of the same 18650 cells used in bike packs. Grin Technologies offer what looks like the Rolls Royce of chargers called the Cycle Satiator, which can be programmed to do just this. If anyone has information on whether this device would work with a Haibike Yamaha battery, and how to connect it, I would be very pleased to know. I emailed Justin who thought it MAY work, but that there may be other factors built into the Yamaha pack that could cause difficulties.
  4. I have a 12mm through axle on my bike and wanted a chain support to fit over the axle when the wheel was removed to support the chain for cleaning and lubing. I got a Petzl UltraLegere Pulley Wheel for about 3 quid from an online climbing supplier. Works perfectly, has an internal diameter of 14.5mm and is made of the highest quality plastic (lives depend on it).

  6. Hi Guys, Thanks for the welcome and tips, the books look very interesting. Eddie, I'm working my way through the thread you suggested. The Thames Path is surprisingly extensive and is about 180 miles in total. http://www.the-river-thames.org.uk/thames-path-walk-cycle.nsf/cycling-on-the-thames I live in Fulham and can get to the river easily. I'm currently working out a number of circular routes from Putney going west. With the ebike my range has increased so other possibilities now exist, including going east through the city toward Greenwich and further.
  7. Hi All, Hi All, I've just subscribed although I've lurked here occasionally over the years. I've recently bought a Haibike (27.5 SDouro Hardtail) and I absolutely love it. I've been on a Brompton for the past ten years, before that mountain bikes (Cannondale Jekyll, Marins and road bike, Holdsworth). I won't be doing any high speed downhill rides at my age but around London and the Thames path, in the SE countryside when the weather improves (will it?) and hopefully do some rides in Spain next year, where there are some fabulous tracks and little used roads (and quite big hills). Hope to be able to contribute once I get the hang of things more. Cheers Pete
