  1. Glad I kept my 500W Psu and 450watt lipo chargers. Most of the time I return from a day out with at least 50% battery but a couple of weeks ago I ran out about 4 miles from home with a long slow climb still to do. Hope this will solve the problem.
  2. Thanks for your reply an sound advice, I did some detailed inspection and found that one of the three spade connectors on bike end is a dummy with no connection on the battery side, this is what caused my confusion and your reply prompted me to look a lot closer. I have been using lipo's for a long time, I was one of the first registered drone pilots in the UK, having flown RC heli's and fixed wing for a lot of years, in the early days we were flying German Mikrokopter craft and that required lots of soldering etc and careful use of lipo's. So I will make up a 10 cell pack, I will put a watt meter in as well as a couple of lipo alarms. Thanks
  3. Ok so have I posted this in the wrong place???
  4. Hi, I have been using lipo's for many years and have a few redundant packs, I plan to make up a 10's 5000 pack as a get out of trouble to use if I get caught out on a long ride, as I did a couple of weeks ago. The existing battery has 3 connections. Any advice is welcome as I don't want to damage anything. Cheers Paul
  5. A nice day out along the Castlemain Trailway and on to a pub lunch in the New Forest. The Kudos Sonata has performed faultlessly over the last couple of months, so there is not a lot to say other than I have no reason to think the next 100 miles will be any different. Power is excellent although I spend most of the time in eco mode just enjoying the scenery that takes on a new perspective on two wheels. The Sonata is a good bike with a powerful motor excellent disc brakes and clear controls. I have changed a few things to make it suit me, these include NXC seat post, Ergon grips and swept back Dutch style handlebars. If I could change anything it would be the gear ratios, it is a 10 by 3 setup and the largest front ring is 42T and smallest on the rear is 11. To change the front ring involves changing both the front and rear mech, so I have been told by the local bike shop. Good Friday was a trip to the coast, 10 miles, the attached pic was on Bournemouth beach enjoying the sun.
  6. H Hi and thanks for your reply. I called the London shop a week ago. The eBay question has been answered today. It seems that my questions have been answered, I will forget the Nuvinci after the opinions of this forum. You are right, a call back would have saved all of this. Thanks again Paul
  7. Thanks Derf, I also told this by another respected contributor, I will look at the shimano hubs from KTM.
  8. Thanks Tom, I will be in touch. Paul
  9. According to the add banner to the right of this post they are still called The Electric Transport Shop. I was calling about 2 different bikes @ 2 different stores so they must have a sales policy that says ignore customers .
  10. There was an answer machine after some time, I left a message on the third attempt. Don't think they will get my custom.
  11. I need to get some opinions on this. I have great Kudos Sonta that I am considering passing on to the wife as the bug has bitten!! I am hankering for a crank drive with the Nuvinci system and I noticed on eBay a KTM with the Nuvinci system so I thought I would ask a couple of question, easy ? No after 3 calls to the shop with no reply I left a message , that was a week ago. No reply! I saw another listing on eBay from the same dealer (Electric transport Shop) so I thought I would message them via eBay, yes you guessed it, 3 days later and no reply. How can any retailer survive in today's market with this customer service? They must be so busy that customers are just a pain.
  12. Thanks, yes I found it. It was a laugh because I didn't even know how to turn the bike on till I downloaded the manual!!
  13. Hmmm, very interesting!! Kudos do say on their web site that all bikes conform to EN 15194. Thanks for the info, I did call Kudos but they said they don't have any such info, I asked if there was a manual of any kind. Thanks for pointing this out.
  14. After lots of help on this forum I decided to buy the Kudos Sonata ex-demo as offered by Kudos Cycles. I had narrowed down to a few bikes, some were over budget a couple were second hand and others just didn't fit the bill. I looked at a second had volt that was quite high spec and advertised with 15 months remaining warranty but after a quick call to Volt as I suspected the warranty is not transferable. I settled on the Kudos Sonata because it offered the BPM motor 30 speed gears and hydraulic disc brakes. I am writing this after returning from a 12 mile ride around the local roads, this is my third outing having now clocked up 20 miles in total. The Plus Points The Sonata looks much better in the flesh than in the web site picture and I was pleasantly pleased with the overall look. I tightened the handlebars fitted the pedals, checked as best I could and was soon off into the sunset. So what can I say about the Sonata? It does what it says on the tin and does it very well. Everything works just as it should, plenty of power. The gears are fine although I am tending to only use three off the them. The brakes are certainly the best I have ever had on a bike. The Negative Points No real negatives so far but a couple of small observations. There are no instructions of any kind with the bike or the motor system, a brief safety checklist and a quick start guide would have saved some head scratching especially operating the King Meter. Kudos cycles offer a registration for their bikes that requires the frame number, unfortunately the pedal sensor covers the middle part of the number so it is not possible to record it without removing the crank. Conclusion Very early days so far but I am more than happy with my choice. I will report again when I have some reasonable miles on the clock, now I just want some nice sunny days to get into the New Forest. I would like to thank all the members of the forum who gave me some very good advice and to Kudos Dave for the excellent service and advice.
  15. Hi Mike, thanks for your offer, need all the help I can get. I am away for a week so will give you a shout when I am back. Thanks again. Paul
