  1. There's a house down the road from us, had a explosion due to a gas leak which half destroyed the house! It's still all boarded up a year later because the insurance company's can't agree who's at fault & passing the buck! Edit I think there was a guy working there at the time trying to find the leak, so it's probably the house insurers saying it's the company's fault and Vice a versa, in the meanwhile this family are without there home for over a year whilst "our" premiums are paying to have them put up in another house or hotel or wherever they are!
  2. the anoying thing is the AXA policy which only covers to a max of £1000 per item! won't even cover us up to that value on this bike! They say it would be under insured so not covered at all even though it's them who can't/won't increase there limits!!! I fecking hate insurance company's!!! with all there little loopholes & smallprint to get out of paying out in the event of a claim, I recon most of us are not insured as much as we think we are on anything if it did ever come to a claim, I must have paid £10s of thousands in insurance premiums over the years and never had any claims apart from a few motor accident/repair claims!!!
  3. We are probably not going to end up with insurance as we usually think like you! apart from very high risk items! But it's just with being left outside while we go into coffe shops & visitor centres etc, also we have a few trips a year to Center Parcs so the bikes get locked up in the bike parks!
  4. Nah no insurance apart from the obligatory Public Liability! too expensive
  5. I don't think I will be needing to override the speed regulator or whatever it is
  6. Been piddling down here all day but managed to get out a short while ago to have a bit of a trial up a pretty steep forest track just up the road from us, it was dark, raining & muddy :-( Managed to get up the hill with ease towing the trailer (with our 9year old & a few heavy logs in lol) a lot of people wouldn't get up that hill even without a trailer! like you say there will be a bit of a learning curve but it seems like it will make it a lot easier towing up any incline & big hills! Hopefully will have a proper go with it tomorrow in these hills towing my wife lol, hopefully without the rain & darkness
  7. Well we're just about there ready to pick up our new toy! Sorry I mean tool :-)
  8. Th When our 9 year old is older maybe we get a second trailer for me lol
  9. Sounds like that lol, it could be a lot worse!!! I manage I just keep popping the pills when needed :-)
  10. THANKS I will have to look into sorting that, I think I did open a photobox account a lot of years ago, I will have too see if that's still active :-)
  11. Thanks for the tips! I defiantly not what I would call a experienced rider lol I probably don't even understand or know how to use gears properly! Hoping it might be a bit easier on this bike with it only having one set of gears!! I would love to be able to do that but with over 30 years of hard work gardening & landscaping I have a dodgy back, knees & neck/spine :-(
  12. Thanks for that but all my photos are on the iPhone/iPad! Do I need to upload them to something like photobox etc?
  13. I like the look of the top one, but not the bottom one! Edit: That's just my opinion & I ain't no bike expert! Just like to get out into the countryside with the family on the bikes! Mainly for our youngest daughters sake, as there are a lot of things we can't do due to our eldest health problems & disabilities!
  14. And hopefully sort insurance, but I've started another thread on that :-)
  15. I will have to figure out how to add a few photos!
  16. THANKS Everyone for all your help & advice it's much appreciated :-) I'm no bike expert! But I will keep this post updated on how we get on with this bike "helping" to tow the trailer in case anyone else is interested! Just hoping Trex doesn't get the opportunity to say "I told you so" LOL All your input is also really apreciated Trex, Sorry I just didn't like the look & extra weight of the whoosh bikes :-(
  17. I can see my wife using the ebike on her own & me still pulling the trailer on a normal bike lol
  18. Well we will soon find out lol, besides it's not to pull a large heavy trailer! It's to "help me" pull a large heavy trailer!!! anyway I know I stated a large heavy trailer but not sure if is actually a large heavy trailer! I tows quite nicely apart from its hard work up large hills Despite that I often get to the top of most hills towing the trailer & my wife is having to push her bike & that's with no trailer lol, I may be fecked for the rest of the day though lol
  19. Looking into insurance with Aviva! Reading the policy wording it states "we do not insure bikes with motors" so you may be better off double checking yours!
  20. Nah we don't have that sort of insurance, we're not realy running a business from home as such! I'm a self employed gardener using my home address, so that excludes us from a lot of home insurances :-(
  21. Like I thought! There's no leeway to increase our bike policy with AXA, so it's time to look into another insurance company :-(
  22. Looks like we're going to go for it! Just waiting for the local dealer to open to say yay :-) sounds like we might even get it today :-)
  23. Just checked our AXA Insurance again, were paying an extra £26.69 for £2.5k with £1k single bicycle limit which seems a bit steep, if they won't upgrade us for more cover tomorrow I will be looking into changing insurance! But a lot of insurance company's won't touch us at a decent premium as we are classed as running a business from home :-(
  24. I wouldn't call myself a fit rider LOL as I have my own health problems :-( but I had been managing :-)
