  1. I've used the X6 for nearly two years and get 20 Km which is my daily commute. Might get 25 at a push. This is on relatively flat terrain with judicious use of assist. I'm also having problems with the connector mentioned and appreciate the advice on a fix.
  2. thanks for the info carpetbagger
  3. Thanks Flecc. Going to take a serious look at the Bionx you mentioned on another thread seeing as there's prospect of a UK dealer
  4. Thanks for the info guys, I thought if I was getting 38V that's ok for a 36V system. Need to do the light diploma in electrical engineering!.... Would have thought I'd get a bit more from the battery though, wasn't used anything like everyday Will contact F Curran in the meantime, how much is battery going to set me back?
  5. No reply to emails to Powabyke so thought I'd try here. Bought X bike with 36 V system in Oct 2008. No problems until recently and very happy with bike, mainly used for 8 mile commute. Recently however the battery seemed to stop retaining charge, ie after overnight charge getting only 2 lights out of 4 on state of charge indicator. Check with multimeter shows ok output from transformer at 42V. Battery is indicating 38V so appears also to be ok. Problem appears to be control box, has anyone on forum had similar problems? - will I need to replace the control box - and how much this likely to cost. Please don't tell me to go to dealer only one here in Ireland and he's a long way from here!
  6. Thought some might be interested in reports of new Schwinn e-bike using toshiba proprietary battery technology. Endgadget says: Schwinn has been pretty big on electric bicycles for some time now, but it seems to be particularly excited about its new Tailwind bike, which it says "sets a new standard for the electric bike industry." That boasting is apparently due in large part to the bike's use of Toshiba's newfangled Super Charge ion Battery (or SCiB), which has a promised 30-minute recharge time, or about an eighth of that of competing bikes. The rest of the bike's specs also look to be up to Schwinn's usual high standards, and include a Shimano Nexus 8-speed internal geared rear hub, a brushless motor with 180 watts of continuous power or 250 watts at peak power, a rear roller brake system, double wall alloy rims, and Continental Town Ride tires, to name but a few premium features. Just don't expect any of that to come cheap, as the bike is set to retail for $3,199 when it hits shops early next year. link to Schwinn for full lowdown Schwinn Electric Bikes | 2009 Tailwind | Electric Bike Technology
  7. Deliveries promised for September it's nearly October anyone got an update on the X bike?
  8. Hi e-kagu, I'm new to the forum myself and also doing a bit of research. When you mention the Kalkhoff 2009 catalogue does it mention euro pricing for the Pro Connect? I recently saw a reference on the company's website to this model being available for €1500. Curiously this translates as £1500 sterling retail in Britain.... cheers Reg
  9. Thanks Bob appreciate the info I will contact them direct Reg
  10. Wisper Ireland Hi Wisper bikes, I live in Dublin - just wondering if you have any dealers or service support this side of the pond? cheers Reg
  11. Citrus, I'm considering the Alien 36v kit as a low cost way of getting into e-biking. Re your comment about 'teething problems' with yours, can you elaborate? Any user feedback much appreciated - reviews I've read to date seem fairly positive....
