  1. A thank you to 50 Cycles. I was away touring(motorhome/ebike) and my battery failed. 50 Cycles sent me a replacement. I thought that this was excellent service.
  2. Hi Paula, welcome. The Windsor is owned by several members so perhaps they will post. I think others are using the Cyclamatic. I think you should receive support soon. Best wishes. Dan
  3. Hello everyone. Does anyone know of a source of 80mm Tongxin motors? I'm hoping to electrify my Brompton by following Jerry Simon's design. Regards Steve
  4. I have Brooks' saddles fitted to all my bikes. Once they have worn in, they are extremely comfortable. Dress the saddle with Proofide and try to keep it dry.
  5. I have a Sram dual drive on my (non-electric) Bike Friday. It works beautifully and has a great range,19-108, for a small wheeled bike.
  6. Dear Tony I wish you a speedy recovery. Regards Steve
  7. Very comprehensive as always Tony. Thank you. Steve.
  8. I have a very small camper (Romahome). It has a very small rear door. I "post" my bike in rear wheel first, turning the handlebars as necessary. Hope this helps. Regards Steve
  9. Thanks Tony A interesting and informative read. Regards Steve
  10. I have a Romahome. It is 18 years old with only 60,000 on the clock. When I'm not using the Twist, I put my Brompton behind the passenger seat. All very minimalist. Merry Christmas to everyone.
  11. Dear Elephants The Helly Hansen under pants (lovely ring don't you think?) are exactly what I meant. Happy cycling Steve
  12. Dear Ella Pants I too have experienced similar discomfort. Wearing appropriate clothing is essential. Cotton or merino wool, with fully breathable outer garments will help to release sweat. It is possible to buy underpants which perform the same function as "wicking" tops. Karrimor for example produce a range in "Polartec" which I have found to be comfortable and efficacious. Yours Dry bum
  13. Wheel build Tiberius SJS have always been very helpful. I've just had a Sram 3x7 laced into a 20" wheel by Tim at Cycle1 in Honiton, Tel:01404 47211. He's a really nice guy and has made a great job-highly recommended. Steve
  14. BF trailer John,go to the BF homepage and click on "standard airline suitcase",it shows the Samsonite case and trailer. Alternatively, download the catalogue. Now only if I could afford the Bionx. Steve
  15. John, to see the suitcase trailer you need to look at Bike Friday folding bicycles, travel bicycles and folding bike accessories. Regards Steve
  16. Bikerev John, I've used the Bike Hod for many years and have always been very happy with it. It has a large, easily detachable bag. The trailer has always been very stable when loaded and at speed. More recently,I've purchased a suitcase trailer from BicycleR Evolution Bike Trailers in the U.S. It is very good. More importantly, it can be supplied as a kit enabling one to construct a trailer to meet one's own needs.Hope this helps. Steve
  17. Hello all I'm hoping to go to Presteigne again this year as I had such a great time last year.Anybody else definitely going? I went to visit a friend in Leicester recently and so went to 50 cycles and tried an Agattu. It was very good, better than my Twist in every respect. I stopped off at Avon Valley Cycles in Bath on the way home and tried the Airnimal fitted with the 250 watt Bionx. It was the most enjoyable bike I have tried to date.(I have tried all the major bikes with the exception of the Heinzmann) Lovely to ride unassisted too. I didn't have time to try it on steep hills, but around the city it was marvellous. Steve
  18. Music Flecc,Leonardo I may never compose again. Steve
  19. Thanks Ian I've been meaning to post same for weeks. Steve
  20. Dear Flecc An excellent review. As you will know from our previous conversations, I thought that the Panasonic system used in the Twist, made that bike the best available, especially for pure cycling pleasure. It would seem that the best has been bettered. Many thanks. Steve.
  21. The reason for my initial post was to raise awareness. BS 6102/3 IS a requirement. It throws up any number of anomalies. I have two front lights,an El 300 which is 6102 and a more recent one which is more powerful, brighter and isn't. Were I to be involved in an accident, I could be considered partly liable if I was using the brighter light, as I would be "breaking the law".Similarly, I was very angry to find that having happily sold me clipless pedals, the shop didn't inform me that I was "breaking the law" when I used them at night. Illuminated bands on trousers (which I use) are not (in law) an acceptable substitute, even though again they are far more visible. The police have generally taken the attitude that any light is better than no light, which is why no action was taken ,for example, against cyclists who displayed flashing rear red led lights before they became legal. It is possible therefore to be illuminated like a Christmas tree, visible to all, and still be riding "illegally". Steve
  22. Evenings will be darker from tomorrow. In order to strictly comply with legislation, may I remind all our listeners, that at least one front and rear cycle light should meet BS 6102/3 (or its European equivalent). Safe cycling. Steve
  23. Dear Leonardo Bene, grazie. Your links were most useful. It would appear from the French sites, that as usual, one doesn't get "something for nothing", the Velectris hub being a selected version of the German one on ebay. Still interesting though. Steve
  24. Hi Leonardo.Come va? Have you bought/electrified a Brompton yet? Is there any chance you could post a translation for the kits you mention? Regards Steve
  25. John In addition to Flecc's advice. I have knee problems. I believe they are as a result of cycling. I used to cycle with a really low cadence, always pushing against the pedals. I also had a bike for a long time that was equipped with Shimano Biopace chainrings, which some people have suggested are bad for one's knees. Additionally, I have always used clips or cleats. There is some evidence to suggest that these may be harmful as they do not allow the knee to move freely. I am sure that if you persevere with the higher cadence you will enjoy your cycling more and protect your knees in the longer term. Steve
