  1. Check out this thread, lots of info... http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/cheap-brompton-conversion-kit.12494/
  2. This was my 1st eBike build so my knowledge of battery chemistries was very limited at the time.
  3. Cannibalized parts from an O-Bag Mini and mated them with a Pelican 1200 Case. Tell me what you guys think...
  4. Shrunk the controller box and moved it to the stem. Added a second battery and a quick release rack. I'm getting ready for a long group ride with a San Francisco e-Bike group next month. I think this is the last iteration of this project, at this point this is no longer a "Cheap" Brompton Conversion.
  5. Very happy with the build but there is always room for refinement. Now working on shrinking the footprint of the controller box.
  6. I can reach the clip just fine.
  7. I would like to use a smaller case but it's all the excess cable that I had to deal with.
  8. Here it is... Only thing I want to add is a proper mount for the controller box. Right now it's strapped in with a universal bottle cage mount and it seems a bit flimsy.
  9. Here's an update on my build... Hub motor failure. I think one of the internal gears is grinding away. I can hear something rattling around in the housing. New Black Q100 motor New controller and working on a centralized mount similar to the Nano2 Kit.
  10. Build is basically done. I've only ridden it a few times then the controller failed.
  11. At a certain point this "Cheap Brompton Conversion Kit" is no longer Cheap. Purchased the wrong controller to replace the one I fried.
  12. New controller should be arriving this week but I am concerned about splicing the correct wires together. Power is not problem, it's the Phase, Hall Sensors, and Cadence wires that I'm concerned about.
  13. Well this sucks, my controller failed. Opened the casing and it looks like two of the FETs disconnected from the PCB. The casing felt warm so I guess the solder points failed from excessive heat? Anyone experience this? Purchased a controller from BMSBattery, hopefully it's the right one. https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-kit/752-s-ku65-for-led810-250w15a-6mosfets-controller-ebike-kit.html?search_query=S-KU65+for+LED810+250W15A+6Mosfets+Controller&results=1
  14. Took my new rig out for a spin and it runs perfectly. Fells like 15mphs which is perfectly fine especially for my size. I may have to swap the chain set since I have a climbing set-up. Question for everybody... What kind of preventative maintenance is there for this type of hub. Judging by the size I assume it's a geared hub.
  15. That is exactly what I need, THANKS!!!
  16. I love building wheels, it's very meditative. I originally thought I measured for a radial spoke pattern but the single cross came out just fine.
  17. Found this on eBay but I'm afraid I'd fry the wires. http://www.ebay.com/itm/41-5cm-Length-Replaceable-3-Pin-LED-Strips-Waterproof-Connector-Cable-/301909115618?hash=item464b2f82e2:g:CE4AAOSwGYVW9WiT
  18. Not quite, I'm not using a throttle grip and break cut offs so that has 3-4 cables too many. Something like this but with 8 pins. http://www.rivercable.com/image/apx-mic-1.jpg I may have to consider two cables; a 3 pin and 5 pin.
  19. Actually trying to figure out something similar. Goggle-ing around for a simple wire harness. Do you have any leads on a 8 conductor harness?
  20. Battery & Controller Box enclosure done...
  21. What batteries are you guys using?
  22. If you folks are wondering how I'm going to mount the battery... http://www.bikesheduk.com/image/data/Brompton/brompton-ortlieb-mini-o-bag.jpg Should be coming in the mail in a few days.
