Q85 motor cutting out - full throttle
Thanks Motomech - I am using the Halls. That e-bay link looks to be exactly what i have. The controller has 36v stamped on the outside so i suspect that is where the problem may lie.

Does this sound ok?
Thanks Kuo, Yes - It is still running at 48v. Not much running yet as I'm in the process of sourcing a new S06 controller and lcd to replace the controller and led that came with the motor. Its been a learning journey for sure, but a lot of fun.

Does this sound ok?
HI Alan, It's the noise at the beginning as the motor starts to spin that i am concerned about. Here is a better video with spokes tightened.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ykv5AL3o_g

Does this sound ok?
Hi, Just in the process of my brompton conversion using Q85 motor. Having loosely laced my wheel i thought i would give it a whirl to check. Can you tell me if you think the motor sounds ok? The noise i'm talking about is the one immediately on throttle which then disappears as the motor gains speed. Having not had one of these motors before i don't know if it is a feature or i have a faulty unit. Cheers, Jock

Q85 motor cutting out - full throttle
I bought the LED controller? Is there a way to change it to run on 48v or easier to buy a new controller. The one i have has the connections for the hall sensors so may be difficult to source a 48v version.

Q85 motor cutting out - full throttle
I did not fit the PAS. Intended to use just the throttle without the PAS.

Q85 motor cutting out - full throttle
Having been a long time lurker i eventually took the plunge to do a diy brompton conversion. Thanks to those on this forum who have been a great source of information. I ordered a Q85 with controller, led, throttle from e-life bike 36v version. I managed to source a 48v 10ah bottle battery on eBay. Having connected it all up to my surprise it appeared to work. At low speed the motor runs fine but as soon as i twist the throttle to increase the speed the motor cuts out. I have checked all the connections which are sound but really don't know where the problem may rest. Could it be bad cells in the 48v battery or the combination of that with the 36v controller or perhaps something else. Any advice would be gratefully received on how i can troubleshoot. Here is the link to the kit i bought - http://www.elifebike.com/peng/iview.asp?KeyID=dtpic-2014-CB-QSEJ.7G3US Cheers, Jock
