  1. Hi, My long loved Oxygene CB-Cross has finally had it's day and I have been looking for a replacement. I have narrowed it down to either the NCM Venice Plus or the Basis Beacon E-MTB. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks
  2. My Oxygene CB-Cross has finally give up and I was looking at the Milano Plus. Any chance you could pm me too?
  3. Hi, I bought an Oxygen S-Cross CB at the end of 2016 and unfortunately I have broken the LCD screen. Does anyone know where I could get a suitable replacement or if I can use some kind of universal replacement?
  4. I like listening to radio but still want to hear external noise for safety so I use these. I too am pretty fussy about noise, but have had no issues with this bike. Best of luck!
  5. Ok, I paid more attention this morning, it does make a very quiet whir/hum like a very quiet tram, not anything that would bother you I would imagine. Hope that helps.
  6. Breaks are fine and yes its pretty quiet. In fact until you mention noise I hadn't considered it I will pay more attn tomorrow, but I would go so far as to say its no more noisy than a normal bike.
  7. Thanks Cricket, I am still enjoying it. Had a few more queries and John answered immediately. Very happy so far. Quite a few people have had a shot and they all come back with a big smile. Ping me in a few weeks and I will answer any queries you have Mike, but so far this had made me ditch the car to work which is what I was after.
  8. Thanks trex. I have spoken to John, they guy who owns Oxygen and he has pointed out that although possible, its not actually worth doing it.
  9. Occasionally, I think I could get a bit more speed out it if I had an extra gear or two, no biggie, just an idle question.
  10. Interesting thanks. If you wanted to increase the number of gears on these bikes, by adding another rear wheel cog, is that something that would be possible?
  11. I have posted a review on my new Oxygen S-Cross CB here.
  12. After some time lurking in the forum and then posting my requirements, I decided to opt for a prebuilt eBike from Oxygen. Thanks to all the posters who helped me decide what suited my needs. I thought a review might help others in the market for a bike to commute to work with. My bike arrived a couple of days ago (dispached Monday late afternoon and with me in the Highlands Tues afternoon - almost as fast as the bike! Many thanks to http://www.e-bikesdirect.co.uk). Very well packed so in perfect condition. Setup was simple, attach pedals, straighten handle bar and charge for a couple of hours (couldn't find charge point at first - note for others, its at bottom of battery under a protective rubber flap). The bike is nicely designed and the battery and components are integrated well into the bike. Once charged she was good to go. She is a real beauty (my nephew gave it an 11 out of 10!), sleek and a lovely mat black with red stripes, definitely heavier than a normal bike but that doesn't matter once you are away. I had a few questions before purchase and John the guy who owns Oxygen, called me in person. I also had a post purchase question and emailed John who responded straight back, well after hours - very impressed with the customer service. So I have had a couple days of going to work and back - only a few miles each way, but with a heavily laiden pannier. This bike without doubt removes the pain from the ride. I am back to enjoying cycling again, in fact I had to nip home for a forgotten item today and I planned on returning with the car, but as I enjoyed the ride back to the house I decided to stick with the bike! I even did a small shop from Tesco last night using the bike, something I would never have done before due to the steep hill in the way. So in summary I love my new bike - lots of fun and unlimited pleasure!
  13. Thanks for clarifying and reassuring me - can't wait to get my hands on it!
  14. So would you say I have made a reasonable decision? Not entirely understanding your last post. Do you think I would have been better with the 'gadget show' build? I am not looking for masses of oomph, just a bit lively for weekend trips on private tracks and speeds of up to say 22-23mph. I bought the Oxygen bike last night and came in this morning to see your lovely boardman conversion and thought mmm maybe should have went for that, so toying with idea of cancelling oxy purchase.
  15. I do love the gadget show conversion, however I bit the bullet last night and ordered a prebuilt oxygen s-cross cb!
  16. Thanks guys they all look great, ta for sharing.
  17. Thanks anotherkiwi. So something like this then? http://www.electricbikeconversions.co.uk/product/bafang-bbs02-500w-36v-conversion-kit-with-battery/ Any pointers for a suitable bike?
  18. Thanks Guys, SteveManfa - what bike and kit did you use? Nealth, I do like look of the prebuilt Oxygen bikes eg: http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/e-bikes/s-cross-cb, but the thing I am struggling with, is if I want to muck about on private roads at weekends: 1) will I be able to derestrict it (I think I can as its basically a OxyDrive kit but not sure)? 2) if I can derestrict it, what is the max speed I can achieve from the 250W engine? So if I can derestrict Oxygen for private road use and 250W engine is sufficient then I would prob go for one of these. Cheers, Does anyone have any experience of these bikes - they do look great!
  19. Does anyone happen to know if this bike: http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/e-bikes/s-cross-cb uses kit from OXYDrive?
  20. I have considered this, but to keep weight down and to possibly allow for higher speed off road I am tempted to go down the bespoke route, ta anyway!
  21. Thanks for the info guys!
  22. Hi, I have spent some time considering my options and I have now decided that I would like to buy a hybrid bike in the region of £400 - £600 and do a conversion using and Oxydrive CST HT kit (mainly due to good reviews on this site). I will be commuting on road to work, but I also want to do some lite off road fun stuff at weekends. I am 5'11, 13 stone. The question I was hoping you guys could help with is choosing a good hybrid that is fairly light, comfortable and reliable and suitable for a conversion using the Oxydrive. Do you have any pointers that could help narrow down the huge list of choices out there? Many thanks!
